Here we are at the halfway mark for the 2012 installment of The Rock Father's 31 Days of Halloween, and what better way to mark the occasion than a free song? In the spirit of the season, L.A.-based children's entertainer Deborah Poppink, aka DidiPop, is giving readers a FREE Download of her Halloween song, "Goblins!" Check out the music video and lyrics below, then hit the widget for the song.

After releasing lullaby versions of THE GRATEFUL DEAD, PHISH, DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, WILCO, and WIDESPREAD PANIC, the folks over at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star have kept their Jam Band tradition going with LULLABY VERSIONS OF THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT. Released today (get it on iTunes), this collection features a dozen songs by the long-running Colorado band, transformed into "lush instrumental version" perfect for your little one's nursery.  Check out the tracklisting below.

L.A.-based children's performer Mista Cookie Jar is starting the week off right with a brand-new music video for his song, "Lucas!" The third single from Mista Cookie Jar & The Chocolate Chips' latest album, ULTRAMAGNETIC UNIVERSAL LOVE REVOLUTION (get it now on iTunes), the clip can be viewed below, right here on The Rock Father.

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo is a favorite here at Rock Father HQ. While his third kid-friendly album MAKE BELIEVERS scored a perfect 5-Star review this past May, the genre-bending rapper has another record out for teens and grownups called MONKEYWRENCH. Simply released under "Agent 23," the album has spawned a new, zombie-riffic music video for the track entitled "Shambles." With nods to George Romero (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD), Danny Boyle (28 DAYS LATER), Simon Pegg (SHAUN OF THE DEAD), Sam Raimi (THE EVIL DEAD), Michael Jackson's THRILLER, and more - this video should score big among fright fans this Halloween.

YO GABBA GABBA! releases "Music is Awesome: Volume 4"

Written by

Somehow the announcement for this one slid under the radar here at Rock Father HQ, but YO GABBA GABBA! has a new compilation in-stores this week. MUSIC IS AWESOME: VOLUME 4 features 25-tracks that find the stars of the Nick Jr. hit show - DJ Lance Rock, Muno, Plex, Foofa, Toodee, and Brobee - joined by the likes of THE ROOTS, ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, GEORGE CLINTON, THE AQUABATS!, CUT COPY, METRIC, and more. Check out the full tracklisting below, or just head over to iTunes to grab a copy right now.

Heard any good stories about JASON ALDEAN lately? Rumor has it that he's been a popular guy for the gossip sites of late, but on the musical side of things, his new album, NIGHT TRAIN will be released next Tuesday (pre-order it on iTunes here). For those of you raising country babies (just remember what Waylon & Willie said: Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys) the folks over at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star have released LULLABY VERSIONS OF JASON ALDEAN, which hit stores today.

I've posted about the collaboration between VOLCOM and YO GABBA GABBA! here on The Rock Father in the past, but today comes news about something FREE.

Clint Perry & The Boo Hoo Crew have been pretty busy lately. Having just released their new album, SHAKE YOUR PIRATE BOOTY (review here) last month, you might think that they're done with new music for 2012. Not so, as they're celebrating the spooktacular season with a brand-new single called "It's Halloween." You can get it now on iTunes and other digital retailers, but first feel free to stream it in the player below!

Free Download: David Tobocman - "Spooky Stuff"

Written by

Children's Musician DAVID TOBOCMAN is getting into the Halloween Spirit with the release of his new song, "Spooky Stuff." Co-written by his 1st Grade daughter, Zoe (who also sings on the track), it's said to "calm the jitters when things go BUMP." "Spooky Stuff" is available now as a FREE DOWNLOAD in the SoundCloud player below...

It's Monday, October 1, 2012 and that means it's time for The Rock Father's 31 Days of Halloween! Each day for the entire month of October, I'll be publishing a featured post that highlights something seasonally-appropriate. The list has already been chosen (though there might be "bonus" posts along the way) to be a spooky mix of music, movies, toys, food, and more. To get things started, here's the new video from PLAY DATE, a new kindie rock collaboration between Shanti Wintergate and Greg Attonito (The Bouncing Souls). Are you ready to "Dance Like A Monster"?

It seems that there's been a huge increase in kids and family music titles being released over the past few weeks, and this one is no exception.  From Kindie to Lullabies, World Music to Soundtracks, there's a little something for everyone hitting the racks (both physical and virtual) today, September 25, 2012. Check out some  select titles below...
