With Fall now in full-effect, it's only appropriate that we start sharing some seasonal music here on The Rock Father. To go along with those Pumpkin Spice Lattes and trips to the orchard is "Falling," a new song from NYC-based children's musician, JOANIE LEEDS. Even better? She's giving it to you for FREE!
Fans of Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star and their "lullabies for all ages" can look forward to a trio of new releases in the weeks ahead. This Tuesday, September 25, progressive rockers DREAM THEATER get the lullaby treatment, while the purple suited one, PRINCE gets his second batch of lullabies (fellow lullaby maker Rockabye Baby! also has a collection dropping the same day). Then, on October 9, country star JASON ALDEAN gets a collection of his own. Check out full details on each release below!
CASPAR BABYPANTS, the children's music alter-ego of Chris Ballew of THE PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, has hit the web today with a Free Download of a new track called "Take Me to The City Dump." An homage to the late J.P. Patches (a Seattle-based children's entertainer), the new song also has an accompanying video, which can be viewed below.
This coming Tuesday, the nearly-unclassifiable Ozomatli will bring their sound to the kindie world with the release of Ozomatli presents OzoKids. Those with a participating independent record store nearby (sadly, not us) will want to pick up the album along with a special box of sidewalk chalk that contains a download code for a bonus track, "Vamos A Cantar." But that's not all... there's a special contest, too.
Baby Loves Disco is becoming quite the sensation Nationwide as parents and kids gather at a variety of of nightspots to get down with the disco hits of the 70s and 80s. While there's a ton of Fall events currently on the calendar for families across the country (click here to find one near you), those in The Rock Father's hometown of Chicago can look forward to a residency at Beauty Bar, with events taking place from noon-2:30pm on 10/13, 11/10, and 12/03.
This was a real toss up: File under "Music for Kids" or "Music for Grownups?" Well, since FRAGGLE ROCK is involved, I'm going with "kids" even though the BEN FOLDS FIVE is the responsible artist. In the footsteps of OK GO and WEEZER, BEN FOLDS FIVE have some Muppet counterparts in their new video for "Do It Anyway," a song taken from their long-awaited comeback album, THE SOUND OF LIFE OF THE MIND (out this week on ImaVeePee/Sony).
The folks over at Silva Screen Records just hit The Rock Father with details on a pair of albums that they've issued digitally this week, both of which present new versions of some classic Disney themes. THE ESSENTIAL DISNEY COLLECTION features 27 timeless Disney classics, recorded by London Music Works and an array of current vocal artists including Helena Blackman (How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?), Helen Hobson (Mamma Mia, Aspects of Love and many more) and Keith Ferreira (The Singing Accountant).
On September 25, BEN RUDNICK & FRIENDS will release their 10th studio album, LOVE IS A SUPERPOWER (moved up from it's original Oct 2 date). Today, I've got the first music video from the new record in the form of an animated piece by Ben Albarelli. Check out all the colorful veggies as they come together in the "Chicken Soup Ballad" below!
My little ones were literally watching SUPER WHY! on Sprout when a headline from Zooglobble popped into my feed on Facebook alerting me to this little nugget: Razor & Tie are offering a FREE DOWNLOAD of "You've Got The Power," a re-worked version of the song from the hit PBS Kids series. It comes from the touring Super Why! Live show, and will be featured on the official soundtrack, SUPER WHY! YOU'VE GOT THE POWER when it's released this October.
