With only 51 Days until Halloween, the Seasonal Songs are starting to creep out, one of which is "Dance Like a Monster" from PLAY DATE. Featured on their forthcoming album, IMAGINATION (out October 9 on Fun Fun Records), "Dance Like a Monster" features an appearance by The Ghouligans, and will have a full-length music video released very soon. In the meantime, check out a short preview below...
Sure, they might've broken up in 2005, but that hardly stopped ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT from reuniting last Fall for a one-off performance geared toward the kindie set. The performance was for YO GABBA GABBA!, and tonight it's hit the web via Volcom as part of their partnership with the Nick Jr. hit on a line of clothing and accessories. Watch the video for "He's a Chef" below, then hit Volcom Retailers on September 21st to snag a limited-edition 7" copy of the song, which also features Biz Markie and FLAMING LIPS' Wayne Coyne rockin' the B-side.
On October 16, SUKEY MOLLOY will release her fourth album, I AM SLEEPY! with Sukey Molloy. Featuring songs, stories, poetry, and lullabies, the new album is a companion to Molloy's recent release, I AM HAPPY!. Today, The Rock Father is featuring the first video from the new album, "The Story of Twinkle Little Star." Watch it below...
Popular children's music artist ELIZABETH MITCHELL and her band, YOU ARE MY FLOWER, have announced an October 23 release date for their new album, BLUE CLOUDS. Set for release via Smithsonian Folkways, BLUE CLOUDS presents a sixteen-song collection of new compositions, traditional tunes, and creative covers that turn classic rock songs into folk songs.
Just a week after giving JUSTIN BIEBER the lullaby treatment, the folks over at Roma Music Group are returning to the pop realm with the release of Lullaby Pop HitZzz 2. Released as a part of their massive and fast-growing (81 titles and counting) Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star line of lullabies, this new 15-track collection transforms hits from CARLY RAE JEPSEN, CEE LO GREEN, ONE DIRECTION, and more into "lush, instrumental versions" for your baby or yourself. The Rock Father has the full tracklisting below!
It was only a matter of time, and now chrome car-driving pop star JUSTIN BIEBER has received the lullaby treatment. The folks at Roma Music Group hit The Rock Father with full details on their LULLABY VERSIONS OF JUSTIN BIEBER, which hit iTunes today as part of their fast-growing Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star line of lullabies. I wonder if Bieber will cuddle Selena Gomez to these? Probably not, though I heard they went to a PHISH concert recently. You know, there's a lullaby for that, too.
With their collection of KISS lullabies set for release later this month, the folks at Rockabye Baby! have issued an update with their next collection: LULLABY RENDITIONS OF PRINCE. Yes, the purple-loving performer will be getting the lullaby treatment, complete with "gentle Mellotron, wood blocks and bells." While the exact release date has not been announced, past releases would indicate a late September release. Check out the cover art and tracklisting below!
I've featured MOTION DEVICE here on The Rock Father in the past - they're a Canadian band of youngsters fronted by a 10-year-old girl named Sara. Well, the band is back with a new YouTube video and a mission: to pursuade RUSH to allow the band to open for them when they play the Air Canada Centre this October. It's been said that they've received praise from Steven Tyler, Alice Cooper, Amy Lee, Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, and more... but will they capture the attention of Geddy, Alex, and Neil? Check out MOTION DEVICE covering the RUSH classic, "Tom Sawyer" below...
Continuing the series started with remixed videos featuring MISTER ROGERS and BOB ROSS, PBS Digital Studios is back with a video celebrating what would've been the 100th birthday of JULIA CHILD. Check out the latest PBS icon remixed below in "Keep On Cooking." As with the first two remixes, the Julia Child piece was auto-tuned and chopped by John D. Boswell of Symphony of Science.
As we count down the days until the official end of Summer (I'm moving into Fall already, but more on that later), my friend Beth Blenz-Clucas of Sugar Mountain PR put together a compilation of family-friendly songs that are perfect for A Late Summer Road Trip... or just rockin' out around the house. You can stream the 11-song set via the Soundcloud player below. Check it out!
This coming Tuesday, August 14 - the folks over at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star are taking a bold move and bringing a little evil to their popular line of lullaby albums. LULLABY VERSIONS OF SLAYER will feature 12 thrash-tastic tunes from one of my favorite bands, SLAYER, reworked into TTLRS' "lush instrumental versions" geared toward relaxation or for playing in your babies' nursery. Having heard the album early, the possibilities for this are endless... haunted attractions... sinister elevator music... it's delightfully creepy, and pure awesome. My 7-week-old loves it.
