The buzz today has been that RYAN ADAMS has not only completed his full-album cover of TAYLOR SWIFT's 1989 - but that Digital pre-orders for it are now live (Amazon | iTunes), and that the release will be available on Monday, September 21st. If you want a hard copy, Amazon is already taking pre-orders for the CD, which Blue Note will release on November 20th... but RYAN ADAMS isn't the only one with a full-album cover of 1989 in the pipeline. On October 9th, the crew at Roma Music Group will release their LULLABY VERSION OF 1989 as part of their massive Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star collection of lullabies. Normally, I'd show you the cover art and tracklisting for the album, but since it's 1989, I'm just gonna defer to Taylor on this one...

If you're prepping to raise a little "wiseguy" (or "wisegirl" or "wiseperson" if we're being P.C.), the crew over at Roma Music Group has the perfect soundtrack for the baby's nursery with the release of LULLABY VERSIONS OF MOB SOUNDTRACK HITS. One of the latest entries into their massive Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star collection of lullabies, MOB HITS is an eight-song EP that leans on THE GODFATHER and GOODFELLAS, with a dash of MOONSTRUCK and THE SOPRANOS thrown in. Fun fact: Addie has, in the past, told people that "Daddy is a Rock and Roll Gangster" - something I explained in this post from 2013. Check out the tracklisting for the LULLABY VERSIONS OF MOB SOUNDTRACK HITS below, along with a stream from THE GODFATHER...

Watch: THE POP UPS - "C is for Cat"

Written by

We all know that "C is for Cookie" (something my pal Cookie Monster always reminds us), but Brooklyn Kindie rockers THE POP UPS would like to make sure that kids know that "C is for Cat" as well. Actually, it's just the latest in their "Box of Crayons" alphabet series, and THE POP UPS give kids a lot of "C" words in a fun little package to crank up with the permission of a grownup. See their new music video below, and look for more on their YouTube channel!

Watch: KOO KOO KANGA ROO - "Everybody Poops"

Written by

Nope, R.E.M. did not release a sequel to "Everybody Hurts," but KOO KOO KANGA ROO is back with the first video from their new EP, GROSS. "Everybody Poops" is the perfect song for my almost six-year-old and her friends right now - all of whom seem to have become fecalpheliacs over the past few months. Weird thing is, I really don't like gross-out kid stuff (poop, snot, etc.), and previously gave a one-star review to PAPA CROW's fart-themed EP from 2013. Still, I do enjoy KOO KOO KANGA ROO, who Addie and I saw on tour with THE AQUABATS last year. Check out the new video below, and catch the guys on a Warped Tour date near you...

PSYCHOSTICK are pretty notorious when it comes to the realm of comedic metal. Strange thing is, they've also crossed-over into the realm of slightly dated, yet completely classic educational programming in recent times, and the start was their cover of the READING RAINBOW theme early last year. Now they're back with a cover of the theme song from BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY, and I can only wonder if it was fueled by the fact that the series recently made its debut on Netflix. In fact, I mentioned it in last month's #StreamTeam column, and I have a feeling that the gents from PSYCHOSTICK have been doing a little binge-watching. Crank this one up...

"We really wanted the story to stand alone - not to rely on the music, or simply feel like a music video," explains RECESS MONKEY Bassist/Vocalist Jack Forman about "Lighter Than Air," which follows "Penguinese" as the latest video from their forthcoming new album, HOT AIR. Forman, who co-wrote the single with bandmates Drew Holloway (Guitar/Vocals) and Korum Bischoff (Drums) also took the reigns on animation and editing for the video, which we're debuting today here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine. The clip will be included when the album hits the streets on June 16 as a CD/DVD Combo.  "While the songs inspired story elements to some degree, we really treated them more like underscoring," he adds, noting that "the big challenge was to create something that was both 'peppy' but also celebrated meandering - [since] so much of the progression is what happens when Andrew and the Penguin are aimless and open to making discoveries." Check out the video below!
