On May 25, 2018 - 41 years to the day that 1977's Star Wars first hit theaters, audiences will go back to a time shortly before that... a time when Han Solo and Lando Calrissian were just gaining their legendary status. Solo: A Star Wars Story will showcase the smugglers and scoundrels in an one of their early adventures in a galaxy far, far away. Having made its debut on ABC during American Idol, here's the second trailer for Solo - the first to give some real looks at the story. Check it out!

It was just over six years ago that I first published Teaching The Force The Rock Father™ Way. At the time, I was discussing how I'd initially shared with our only daughter the original Star Wars films. Six years and nearly 6,000 articles later, times have changed greatly. My wife and I are now raising two daughters who are well-versed in the ways of the Force, something I've written about at length both here and in my column over at The Toy Insider. To put things in perspective of just how greatly life has evolved, when I published that entry back in 2012, we thought that Star Wars was done. Instead, Lucasfilm was sold to The Walt Disney Company just eight months later and a new era of Star Wars was ready to begin! In the years since, there has been more Star Wars storytelling than we ever experienced the first time around. Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels (2014-2018), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Forces of Destiny (2017-), Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) and now we're looking ahead to Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), the Untitled Episode IX (2019), a new series of films from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, a new Trilogy from Rian Johnson and a live-action television series from Jon Favreau. With much to look forward to, we're still in "Last Jedi mode" around here, and the recent in-home release for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has added fuel to the fire.
Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters on May 25, 2018 - 41 years to the date that the original Star Wars first arrived in 1977. As usual, a new collection of STAR WARS toys based on the film will hit retail, and while countless licensees will be in on the action, here at THE ROCK FATHER™ Magazine we're presenting a series of STAR WARS Checklists, this one focusing primarily on Hasbro's classic 3¾" action figures, vehicles and playsets (carrying on the tradition that Kenner started 40 years ago)- along with the ever-popular "Black Series" of collector-focused 6" figures and accessories. If you'd like to keep track of what's available or coming soon from these lines, this is the place to be!
He's come a long way from playing Gutter in the cult-classic, PCU, and now Jon Favreau is firing-up the hyperdrive and heading toward a galaxy far, far away. This morning, Lucasfilm announced that the Emmy-nominated producer and actor has signed on to executive produce and write a live-action Star Wars series for Disney’s new direct-to-consumer platform. Favreau has played roles in both the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and has a role in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.
At this point, it's very difficult to keep a release date quiet, especially when franchises tend to stick to an easily-deciphered pattern. Almost immediately after Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi hit theaters in December, many had it pegged for a March home video release, and that is indeed the case. Lucasfilm sent over the official announcement this morning, revealing that families can bring the latest chapter of Star Wars home digitally in HD and 4K Ultra HD and via Movies Anywhere March 13 and on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray disc March 27. This release marks Disney’s first title available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc in both Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos immersive audio. Check out the specs below, along with a badass new trailer for the in-home release!
It's the smallest gap ever between Star Wars movies - a December release for Star Wars: The Last Jedi followed by the "standalone" Solo: A Star Wars Story less than six months later. While we know that Lucasfilm doesn't like to market their films on top of one another, it's almost unheard of to debut a first-look just four months ahead of a new release, but that's exactly what's happened here... and I don't mind it. During Super Bowl LII, many (like myself) weren't tuning in to see the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the New England Patriots - they were tuning in for the rumored first-look at footage from Solo. That was a promise quickly delivered on, and with that 45-second teaser came another one... "Trailer Tomorrow." That day has come, and after a debut on Good Morning America, here's the full teaser trailer for Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story!
