It's officially happening. On August 1, 2018, the as-yet-untitled Star Wars: Episode IX will begin filming at London’s Pinewood Studios. J.J. Abrams has returned to direct the final installment of the Skywalker Saga from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Chris Terrio. The official news hit the inbox here at Rock Father HQ just moments ago, and the list of new and returning cast members is both expected and surprising. See all the details below!
The word had quietly slipped out there in recent days, but now it's officially official - Lucasfilm’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” will be available to view at home beginning Sept. 14th as the Millennium Falcon sets course digitally in HD and 4K Ultra HD™ and on Movies Anywhere. The adventure also comes home on Blu-ray 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand on September 25. Packed with bonus features, check out the new trailer and all the specs below!
Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Episode IX should start filming later this summer, and one new addition to the cast just might be an old collaborator for Writer/Director J.J. Abrams. Variety broke the news that Keri Russell, who famously worked with Abrams as the title character on Felicity, will join the final chapter in the Sequel Trilogy in an "action-heavy" role. According to the trade, Lucasfilm and Abrams met with several actresses for this role over the past few months, eventually locking in Russell right before the 4th of July.
In 2019, Star Wars Celebration will return and it's celebrating its 20th Anniversary right here in my home town of Chicago! That's right, ReedPop (the folks behind the fantastic C2E2) and Lucasfilm will bring Star Wars Celebration to McCormick place April 11-15, 2019. The full website and details will be coming soon, with tickets going on-sale June 5, 2018 at noon CST. The announcement was made on this week's installment of The Star Wars Show, and you can bet I will be spending quite a bit of time in the City proper come next April. In the meantime, check this out...

The road to get here was an unusual one - perhaps as bumpy as a trip through an asteroid field while chased by Imperial TIE Fighters - but May 25th will mark the release of Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story, and I'm excited. I think I'm actually more pumped for this one than I was for Rogue One, and I loved that film. What's at play here is the vibe, and the vibe is fun. A large bringer of fun, Lando Calrissian. With that in mind, actor Donald Glover is giving you as look inside the Millennium Falcon - Lando's Falcon - from an era before it became known as a "piece of junk." Seeing this, I really wish it was possible to get a Corellian Freighter to park in the driveway. You could comfortably live in this thing. Take a look...
