While gamers eagerly await the arrival of the XBOX ONE and PLAYSTATION 4 next month, Chicago-based River West Brands is taking the DeLorean back to 1982 for inspiration, and relaunching a classic: ColecoVision. The owners of Coleco Holdings have partnered with AtGames to bring classic ColecoVision games to mobile, online, and retail. AtGames plans to add ColecoVision to it's classic console lineup that includes the Atari Flashback and Sega Genesis Classic as well.

"The re-launch of the iconic ColecoVision brand will resonate with the millions of people that played on the legendary gaming console in the 1980's while appealing to a new consumer that is seeking a portfolio of family-friendly games that have endured the test of time."Mark Thomann, Managing Partner of Coleco Holdings & CEO of River West Brands, LLC.

While no release dates or additional information is available just yet, they've certainly piqued my interest here at Rock Father HQ.

"The chance to reintroduce today's players to ColecoVision is a great opportunity. We are excited to have access to their deep library, and look forward to creating new experiences using the ColecoVision universe."Jason Herczeg, Vice President of Digital Publishing at AtGames Digital Media

For an child of the 80s that's raising kids in 2013, I'm always interested in re-visiting my own childhood to share with my little ones. Very interesting, indeed. Stay tuned...
