Nintendo Rocks into Fall with "New Super Mario Bros. 2" 2DS and more...

Written by

Every generation has their memorable entry point into the world of video gaming, and for The Rock Daughters™, I know they'll remember theirs as the Nintendo 3DS XL - the first system that they really got into. Now, even as we have the Nintendo Switch and the NES Classic Mini (need to get my hands on an SNES Classic!), their 3DS is the go-to, and for families looking to get into the handheld action, the Nintendo 3DS family of systems is a great entry point into a world that continues to grow, and for those looking for some real value, the new 2DS just may be the perfect starter, and this week brought the announcement of some new games and fun ahead...

“Nintendo 2DS is the ideal system for parents that want to introduce their kids to the creative world of Nintendo that they grew up with,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing in a statement issued yesterday. “Its budget-friendly price and huge library of games will provide hours of entertainment for the whole family – whether after school, on the weekends or even while traveling.”

On Aug. 25, a sleek white-and-red Nintendo 2DS system with the New Super Mario Bros. 2 game pre-installed is hitting store shelves at a suggested retail price of only $79.99. This follows the recent release of the new Nintendo 2DS XL system, which launched alongside Hey! PIKMIN, a new type of Pikmin game, and Miitopia, an all-new personalized adventure starring Mii characters. The Nintendo 3DS family of systems has thousands of games to choose from, including beloved franchises like Super Mario, Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda.

Looking ahead, the Fall 2017 lineup of new games includes Monster Hunter Stories, the next game in the hit Monster Hunter series, launching on Sept. 8; Metroid: Samus Returns, the return of legendary bounty hunter Samus Aran, launching on Sept. 15; and YO-KAI WATCH 2: Psychic Specters, launching on Sept. 29.
