For the first-time ever, I will be attending Comic-Con International in San Diego - but for one day only (stay tuned for details). There's gonna be a lot to take in (though I won't be there just as a fan) and one must-visit booth will be from Hasbro. Today comes yet another exclusive announcement, this one coming from the Netflix Original Series, Marvel's Defenders. The Marvel Legends Series Defenders Rail Authority 5-Pack will be available first at booth #3329 at SDCC, followed by some being made available in select quantities at additional conventions at at HasbroToyShop.com. See the full piece below!

When I first heard that Funko would be tackling the 1966 Batman license with a new set of 3.75" action figures, I'd imagined an approach on-par with the Reaction line that they'd worked on with Super7 for awhile. Having only glanced at the pictures in passing, the packaging artwork registered, and again I was thinking that these were going to be in the vintage Kenner style - "5POA" as some call it, with toys designed as they would've been in decades past. I would've dug that on its own, but shame on me for not noticing how detailed the line really is, with super-articulated figures that you have to see for yourself (like me) to truly appreciate. We have a few of these, and I can tell you that this is one cool line.

First revealed at New York Toy Fair back in 2016, the collaboration between Funko and Playmobil was a bit of an unexpected one. Playmobil is one of my favorite toy lines of all-time, producing quality, German-designed toys since 1974. Funko is a more recent success story, the Washington-based maker of Pop! Vinyl ever-expanding their footprint into the pop culture world and beyond. For Funko x Playmobil, the two toymakers have partnered for a series of 6" collectible figures that are scaled more in-line with what Funko is known for, but with the iconic Playmobil look and feel. What makes these special is that they're the first-ever pop culture licenses to appear in Playmobil form, and while they're bigger than the norm, they also serve as a preview for Playmobil Ghostbusters, which launches in May of 2017. With the first wave of Funko x Playmobil officially released, my friends at Entertainment Earth sent over an assortment of figures for review here at Rock Father HQ, and one duo that I was really excited to see was Doctor Emmett Brown and Marty McFly from Back to the Future!

September 17, 2016 has been declared to be the third-annual "Batman Day" by the folks at DC Comics - a 24-hour celebration of all-things Batman. One of the interesting things about the character is that it works in so many forms - from the colorful camp of The Caped Crusaders of the 1960s, to the ominous tones of Alan Moore's THE KILLING JOKE or Frank Miller's THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, there's many shades of grey and black. Zack Snyder's BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE introduced a new version of the character - one familiar, but still like nothing previously seen in live-action... a real brawler. We'd soon find out that Ben Affleck's Batman had faced-off against Jared Leto's Joker (seen in David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD), but as a hypothetical - what if The Joker had the upper hand? My friends at Entertainment Earth recently served-up their SDCC Exclusive Batman v. Superman: The Joker's Wild Batman 19" Big Figs Action Figure by JAKKS Pacific at San Diego Comic-Con International, but with a few left (one of which they sent to Rock Father HQ), we decided that teaming-up for a Batman Day Giveaway was the way to go! One lucky reader of THE ROCK FATHER™ Magazine will score this fantastic figure (a $60 value)! Enter below...

Last week, news hit the web that the folks over at MEZCO Toyz would be releasing a 1:12-scale Space Ghost figure as part of their One:12 Collective Line, a collection of highly-articulated and detailed figures that come with costumes made of real cloth, and an abundance of interchangeable accessories.  Having enjoyed Space Ghost over the years, from the USA Cartoon Express airings of Hanna-Barbera classics in the 80s right through SPACE GHOST COAST TO COAST in the 90s & 00s (somewhere I have an autographed picture of George Lowe), I've followed his adventures, and each Holiday season our Xmas tree is adorned with a Hallmark Keepsake Ornament of Space Ghost in all of his glory. MEZCO's new figure indeed piqued my interest, but today I get to share some news that takes that figure a step further - word that my friends at Entertainment Earth will be offering an Exclusive Glow-in-the-Dark Edition One:12 Collective Space Ghost! This figure comes with an also-glow-in-the-dark Blip the Monkey and is up for pre-order now. Check out all the details...

As of this writing, it's officially Action Figure Work Day - the annual holiday in which the world at large is called upon to take action figures to work... and to share photographs of their plastic counterparts in their new environments. Founded somewhat accidentally in 2014 as "Take Your Action Figure to Work Day," this holiday is a growing one - officially declared "a celebration of the love of comics, animation, games, and everything nerdy and geeky." For 2016, my friends at Hasbro are getting in on the action, and knowing that I generally take action figures to work every day (I work from home most of the time, and when I travel, I pack accordingly), we've teamed up to extend the fun for a full week with a special STAR WARS + MARVEL Action Figure Prize Pack Giveaway! One lucky reader of THE ROCK FATHER Magazine is going to receive an assortment of five (5) randomly-selected action figures from the assortments listed below! Ready to #PlayLikeHasbro?
