The birth rates might be down, but contrary to what some might have you think - yes, people are still having babies... even Millennials. With the loss of Babies "R" Us during the Toys "R" Us collapse this past year, new parents looking for a spot to check out the latest in baby gear are finding that there may soon be more places to buy than ever before, and the latest is a bit of an unexpected one: JCPenney. The iconic retailer has had their own share of struggles with evolution over the past few years, but they're still working on it, this week announcing the opening of JCPenney Baby Shops in 500 stores.

I'm always intrigued by, and in some cases bummed that a lot of the new baby products weren't around when I could actually use them for my own girls. Even in the jumps between the release of our first daughter in 2009 and the sequel in 2012, there was so much cool stuff that didn't exist just three years prior, and here I sit with my youngest now two, and it's really set-in that my days of having a "baby" in my life are over. But, for those of you that are just entering your parenting adventure (or perhaps starting a new chapter in it), goumikids is a new player on the scene - a Portland-based company founded by two Moms (Lili Yeo and Linsey Ebuen), longtime friends on a mission to improve the lives of not only those around them - but Global residents as well.

My wife watches KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS. I don't like the show... but I do like Kanye West. It makes me feel very conflicted at times, and that said, I feel weird that I'm sharing Kardashian news here on THE ROCK FATHER... but it fits. Beginning March 15, Babies 'R' Us will be the exclusive retailer for KARDASHIAN KIDS, a new line of clothing for girls up to 24 months with items ranging in price from $15-$30. My first reaction is that it seems weird to limit a line called "kids" to just girls - and to further limit it by only going birth-24 months, but some of the samples look cute, so who knows? Perhaps it will expand as the real-life Kardashian Kids get older. Personally, I really like the outfit worn by the girl below right...

Baby's DreamI have a theory that all babies are born evil. If you know me well, there's a chance that you've already heard it. If not, I've probably mentioned it in passing, and will likely do so again. As much as I love babies, the Cliff's Notes version would be that babies are a pretty violent and sinister bunch. They hit, they kick, they scream and they sometimes go all EXORCIST on you by spraying you with questionable fluids. Yes, babies are born evil, and we have to teach them to be nice. For those that agree with me, it appears that the folks at T-Shirt Hell are celebrating my theory with the release of their "Baby Dreams" T-Shirt. Sweet dreams are made of Global Thermonuclear War...

The Rock FatherTonight, while much of the Nation was shouting at the television and tossing back Budweisers while watching The Super Bowl (or "Big Game" since the NFL doesn't really want people calling it the "Super Bowl" without paying for the right to do so), I was involved in a massive project here at Rock Father HQ. Upstairs, I found myself bouncing between the rooms of The Rock Daughters™ while sorting the outgrown clothes and swapping out sizes with stuff from the garage.
