The birth rates might be down, but contrary to what some might have you think - yes, people are still having babies... even Millennials. With the loss of Babies "R" Us during the Toys "R" Us collapse this past year, new parents looking for a spot to check out the latest in baby gear are finding that there may soon be more places to buy than ever before, and the latest is a bit of an unexpected one: JCPenney. The iconic retailer has had their own share of struggles with evolution over the past few years, but they're still working on it, this week announcing the opening of JCPenney Baby Shops in 500 stores.
It's two days 'til new baby (scheduled for delivery on Friday) and the excitement is getting going. Today I made the 160-mile round-trip to pick up my Mom, and after returning home, she and the munchkin spent time playing while I hit a bunch of last-minute to-do items. The crowning achievement of the afternoon? Putting together the new Pack 'n Play. This isn't like the old one we sold on the garage sale last summer, it's more like someone said ''Pimp my Pack 'n Play.''
Since I'd written a piece last month about the adventure of buying baby furniture, I figured it was time for a follow-up: The crib and changing table have been purchased. After hunting around and flip-flopping between Babies R Us and buybuyBaby, we ended up over at Cribs.com (a Hayneedle store), but since they declined my application for their affiliate program, I'm not hyperlinking that text. I can be a jerk like that.

Around every corner, it just feels like someone, somewhere, is taking advantage of parents-to-be. With Daughter #2 set for release in June, the clock is ticking to get the new nursery in order, and it's baby furniture time.
