There's a November Holiday that I look forward to each year, and that's the release of a new CALL OF DUTY game. This year, it looks as if I'll have to finally make the upgrade to an XBOX ONE, though, as CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III has been revealed for a November 6 release (dubbed "The New Black Friday"), and this time around it's going current-gen-only. Available for Sony PLAYSTATION 4, Microsoft XBOX ONE and PC, the game's first reveal trailer can be viewed below, and pre-orders are already up through Amazon, Gamestop and Best Buy.
It's time to determine who is the best of the best as the third annual Call of Duty® Championship, presented by Xbox tournament will bring the top Call of Duty® eSport athletes in the world to Los Angeles, March 27 - 29, in the definitive Call of Duty competition. Activision, Sledgehammer Games and Xbox, in partnership with Major League Gaming (MLG) and additional international eSports partners, will play host to 32 of the best Call of Duty teams from around the world, as they compete in Call of Duty®: Advanced Warfare and the rights to be called the Call of Duty "World Champions," and ultimately claim the lion's share of the tournament's $1 million prize purse in the crowning contest where Power Changes Everything. This year's tournament will include a variety of compelling programming covering the weekend's non-stop excitement and hard fought matches, with the final match live streamed on the Xbox Live online entertainment network and other broadcast partners for the world to experience in real time.
CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE (a top gift in my 2014 Holiday Wish Guide) is taking things to another level with a whole new breed of zombies. Following in the star-studded DLC of year's past, John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, and Jon Bernthal star in Exo Zombies, coming to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare DLC in 2015 as part of the Havoc DLC Pack. This quartet of top talent stars as Atlas employees facing a new threat with no training or preparation. The first teaser is below - and it's not for the kiddies...
With just a few weeks left until Christmas, the window of time to search for that perfect gift is getting smaller and smaller. For those that have a gamer to buy for, there's some great options that I've featured here on the site over the past year - big hits like Disney Infinity 2.0 and CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE. But those are just the tip of the iceberg, and when it comes to gaming, your local GameStop store has a ton of great deals and new releases for every member of the family, from "big" gifts like a new XBOX One or Playstation 4, to stocking stuffers like the latest figures from Skylanders Trap Team. Now, GameStop and THE ROCK FATHER have teamed-up to highlight some great picks from the GameStop Holiday Hub in this Gaming Special Edition entry into my 2014 Holiday Wish Guide!
When it hits November, you know it's CALL OF DUTY season, and this year's launch of CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE has ushered-in a new era for the long-running franchise. For older kids (17+) and grownups, I'm including the latest COD game in my 2014 Holiday Wish Guide here on THE ROCK FATHER - and as in years past, I'm gonna give you a chance to win one - but this year, this game is a little bit different: Five (5) lucky readers will score CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE on their choice of system - Xbox One, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 or Playstation 3.
#ForGrownups: I almost started the 2014 Holiday Gift Guide tonight. Almost. Very tempting, because this is the type of thing that goes well as a gift - so well that the folks at Activision even dropped the word "Holiday" into their announcement, as "upping the ante this Holiday" season. When you think about it, November pretty much is a holiday for COD enthusiasts - myself included, as it's the one game I indulge in like clockwork once a year. On November 4, it happens again with the release of CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE, and today comes news of three special editions... The Atlas Pro Edition and Atlas Limited Edition (available for pre-order while supplies last) and the Digital Pro Edition that will be available for pre-order at a later date. Full details follow.
