Quantcast

This past February, when I was out visiting Walt Disney Animation Studios to get an inside look at a little movie they did called "FROZEN" (perhaps you've heard of it?), I came to a hallway that presented a very specific "No Photos" warning, complete with icons for just about every social network you can think of. No Instagramming... no Twittering... no Facebooking... absolutely no leaks from the project known as BIG HERO 6. You see, BIG HERO 6 is the first property to cross-over into Disney Animation from the MARVEL comics world, and thus become the 54th Feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Now, the first trailer has arrived...

First-Look: Ben Affleck as BATMAN...

BATMAN VS SUPERMANAs first teased yesterday when Director Zack Synder promised to "pull the tarp," today comes not only a look at the new Batmobile for his upcoming MAN OF STEEL sequel (BATMAN Vs. SUPERMAN - until the title changes), but the first-look at Ben Affleck in the all-new Batsuit. Quite simply, I'm digging it. This is the closest thing we've ever seen to a true, comic book-style Batman that carries a lot of that DARK KNIGHT RETURNS vibe. Take a peek...

I've always had a thing for licensed die-cast when they're done well, and the folks at Mattel are usually right there with some cool models based on hot trends. While MATCHBOX gets some on occasion (some BATMAN and DISNEY vehicles they've done come to mind), HOT WHEELS are always at the front of the pack. This week, a new assortment started hitting the streets as a Walmart Exclusive - The Hot Wheels Spider-Man Series - done in timing with the release of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 swung into theaters this weekend, scoring some BIG box office receipts, with over $92M in the United States, and a $116M haul Internationally - not bad for the second "Amazing" big-screen incarnation of the titular web-slinger. While I haven't seen the film yet, we have checked out a couple of the toys from Hasbro's latest MARVEL-based offerings. Yes, the toy aisles are once again loaded with new Spider-goodies, and here's a quick look at a pair of items sent to us for review, along with a rundown of what else Hasbro has in-store...

Originally released back in 2011 as CAPTAIN THUNDER or "El Capitán Trueno y el Santo Grial," PRINCE KILLIAN and THE HOLY GRAIL is the Americanized title for the DVD release of this film, based on the Spanish comic book series, El Capitán Trueno.  Slated for an April 29, 2014 bow via Shout! Factory, details on this 12th Century "swords and sorcery" tale can be found below, along with the announcement trailer...

I really need to get back into comics... not just reading them, but as a creator and writer. My personal foray into that realm was brief (as was the existence for the publisher I worked for), but the couple of books I did create have been made available on Amazon as Kindle Editions (they're FREE!) and oddly enough, they still hit the charts (DEATH WALKS THE STREETS #1 is currently number #13 in horror - tonight). I miss regular reads, and often times, catching up via Trade Paperback is the way to go (I still like to hold a real book), and tonight I spotted some upcoming releases that I'd like to highlight here on THE ROCK FATHER. Actually, I think we'll make this a regular feature.
