It's that time of year again - the time when all the toymakers start rolling out the news on their SDCC Exclusives - the sought-after collectibles that will only be offered at San Diego Comic-Con International this July. Since I don't attend SDCC (I've long-said that I'll avoid it until I have a creative project to promote again... like one of my own comic or film endeavors), I sorta look at these as a bit of "window shopping" from afar. The first reveal here at Rock Father HQ comes from my friends at Hasbro, with a 12" Daredevil Figure from their MARVEL Legends collection. The SDCC Exclusive features impressive detailing, 30 points of articulation, premium packaging with original artwork by Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, Joe Quesada. Check it out...

Netflix Stream TeamThe MARVEL Gods were shining upon San Diego Comic-Con last night, bringing forth so much goodness it could barely be contained. From the new Hasbro action figures featuring DOCTOR STRANGE and SPIDER-MAN to the first trailer for the Netflix Original Series, MARVEL's LUKE CAGE, it looked like a big night... but then it became a HUGE night. Also released were the first trailers for MARVEL's IRON FIST and MARVEL's THE DEFENDERS - a New York superhero team-up that features characters from all of the Netflix/MARVEL collaborations coming together as a team. Let's look at that one first - a teaser set to NIRVANA's "Come As You Are."

Netflix Stream TeamAt the TCA Winter Press Tour in Pasadena last month, I sat like a fly on the wall as the cast and crew of MARVEL's DAREDEVIL spilled some details (and video) of what's yet to come in Season Two of the Netflix Original Series. If 2016 is the year of the superhero shakedown, DAREDEVIL is certainly entering the ring with fists flying. We already have Captain America and Iron Man going at it in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, and on the other side of the aisle, DC's BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. With the just-released trailer for DAREDEVIL Season Two, we may well be looking at DAREDEVIL v PUNISHER: THE BATTLE FOR HELL'S KITCHEN. Having seen many play The Punisher (one of my favorite heroes) over the years, Jon Bernthal may be the best yet. Check this out (not for kids):

Netflix Stream TeamI sometimes have a hard time explaining to people what exactly it is that I do - particularly because I do a lot of different things for a lot of different people. The connecting thread between them is that everything is linked by entertainment and pop culture. I've often said that I don't personally consider myself to be a "journalist" nor a "blogger," but a "writer" that sits somewhere in the space between those two things - even though the clients and partners that I work with will often deem me to be one or the other... titles I'll happily accept from others, depending on the assignment. But I've also been an actor, I'm directing again, and that's really just the tip of the iceberg for a time where to be involved in entertainment, you really have to be everything - and in my case, that means being a one-man army, a largely self-sufficient "Rock & Roll Gangster" (the definition of which varies) with "a particular set of skills, acquired over a very long career" - just like Liam Neeson in TAKEN. Sometimes, the strangest thing is that I feel like I'm living on two planes of reality - and those largely different elements are interweaving in an increasingly swift manner, with perhaps no more dramatic example than my most recent trip to Los Angeles. On a Sunday afternoon I'm hanging with the cast of FULLER HOUSE, and on Monday morning I'm 2000 miles away, vacuuming the play area with a three-year-old... working my most rewarding gig as an at-home dad. That's just what happened with my first on-the-road (and in-the-air) mission as a member of the Netflix #StreamTeam.

Are you ready for Mr. Potato Groot? Perhaps it's time for Daredevil to whip up some mashed justice in Hell's Kitchen? Could you be having a Vision of a spud? Is Star-Lord baking in that long leather trench coat? My friends at PPW Toys have just announced the latest additions to their ever-growing line of PopTaters - a collection of pop culture-inspired MR. POTATO HEAD figures created under license from Hasbro. After bringing forth popular characters like Ant-Man, Captain America, Thor and The Hulk, four more MARVEL icons are getting the Potato Head treatment, with the titular character from the Netflix Original Series DAREDEVIL joining THE VISION, and two GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (Groot and Star-Lord) as 6" collectible figures. Each of these PopTaters will be available through comic and specialty shops, the PPW Website, or from my friends at Entertainment Earth. Check them out below...

NETFLIX Stream TeamI posted a picture on Instagram the other day that my wife and I had been joking about. As the girls had just been tucked-in the night before, Jen and I sat down to watch another episode of the breakthrough MARVEL smash DAREDEVIL on Netflix. We don't have a lot of time for "binge watching" (though it's been very tempting), so we're on about episode 10 right now. The funny thing was how the "Recently Watched" and "Top Picks for James" reflected how much of our viewing is dictated by our girls. Yes, you can set-up individual profiles for the family (there's even a "KIDS" one), but I tend to use my own on our Vizio Smart TV just for the sake of convenience. What my wife said is that "people who would see these would either figure you have daughters, or are a total creep." Take a look...
