One of the biggest transmedia initiatives that we've been excited about for the past year is DC SUPER HERO GIRLS, the joint op between Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) and DC Entertainment (DCE), in partnership with Mattel. I've posted about it frequently,  but the biggest looming question has been "where and when can we get the goods?" Tonight that's answered, as the parties involved have announced an exclusive partnership with Target Corporation to offer a first-look at the DC Super Hero Girls merchandise collection, featuring a special assortment of merchandise across multiple categories, including toys and dress up, apparel and accessories, publishing and more, to be sold exclusively at Target, beginning in March 2016. "DC Super Hero Girls harnesses the power of the world’s most iconic female characters from DC Comics, including Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl, as they learn to hone their super powers in a high school setting and gives young fans the chance to play, watch, read and be inspired to discover their full super power potential." I can tell you this - Target already gets a lot of our dollars, and this just locked us in for more. Check out more details on the rollout below...

Immediately upon being announced last Spring, DC Super Hero Girls was something that struck a nerve here at Rock Father HQ. Geared toward kids ages 6-12, DC Super Hero Girls centers on the female Super Heroes and Super-Villains of the DC Comics universe - presented in a High School setting, with Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumblebee, Poison Ivy, Katana and many more learning their powers, while being united by friendship. While there's a ton to explore when it comes to DC Super Hero Girls, one of the most popular elements is the bi-weekly series of animated shorts, and today THE ROCK FATHER Magazine is teaming-up with DC Entertainment to give you a sneak-preview of the latest episode - which actually arrives in full at 11am PT. Following last month's inaugural "Hero of the Month" (Poison Ivy), it's time to crown another, and this time it's Bumblebee! Here's a preview...

It was back in April that I first posted news about DC SUPER HERO GIRLS here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine, and tonight the first elements of this exciting new initiative have emerged. DC SUPER HERO GIRLS is a true transmedia property created by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products in partnership with Mattel - an all-new world created for girls "where they can play, watch, read and be inspired to discover their full super power potential alongside legendary DC Comics female Super Heroes, including Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl, in this all-new universe that was created just for them." The Global Launch takes place this month, and DC SUPER HERO GIRLS will have a massive presence at New York Comic-Con next week. Check out the first video and images below, along with the full announcement.

Sometimes you just have to wait for things, and even if the wait equals years, the payoff is pretty good. A prime example arrived today - the result of planning ahead, and keeping a t-shirt in a drawer for six years. Weird to think that slightly more than a half-decade ago, I was in the midst of a late-night diaper run to Walmart when I started browsing some clearance kids' clothes that had been squeezed-in near their Garden Center. There was one particular rack that caught my eye - t-shirts featuring comic book covers from the 1980s... the exact time that I became a comic book fan myself. Hanging on that rack was a single t-shirt in a size 6/7 that bore not only a favorite cover, but the exact cover of the first issue of John Byrne's THE MAN OF STEEL from 1986 - the very book that hooked me on DC Comics. For less than $2, I purchased said t-shirt, and have waited six years for today to arrive - the day that it finally fit Addie.

After a stellar extended first-look a few months back, a new preview has hit the web and can be viewed below. This is one of my personal "most-anticipated" new series' for 2015....

2016 is already shaping up to be a huge year for fans of DC Comics, with DC SUPER HERO GIRLS rolling out, BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE hitting theaters, and the grownups-only SUICIDE SQUAD following down the line. For the toy aisles, there's a new addition that's just been revealed, and it comes from some old "friends."
