It's pretty appropriate that the new trailer for CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS comes just prior to Halloween. The reason? It brings with it some monstrous aliens in the new "Extinction" mode - a world that finds the planet under siege from some critters that will bring to mind everything from ALIENS, to STARSHIP TROOPERS. No Zombies here, but it's still looking quite deadly. Family-friendly this one isn't, so use caution if viewing near the kids. It's part of "Daddy Shooting Pixels" here on The Rock Father...

And now for something that's not family-friendly at all: The Rock Father just got an email from Activision and Treyarch announcing something explosive for Independence Day... CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS II VENGEANCE is coming to Xbox Live on July 2. While players like myself eagerly await the coming of this November's CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS, BLACK OPS II isn't done yet, and once again I'm glad to be an Xbox loyalist. Check out the trailer and details below...

e3125The crew over at Activision Publishing hit The Rock Father with details on their E3 plans, which includes CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS (a game I plan on playing this November), SKYLANDERS SWAP FORCE (this holidays big hit?), and DESTINY (a game I need to look into further. Along with the announcement comes confirmation that these games will be available for the much-anticipated XBOX ONE from Microsoft (I need one of those) and the PLAYSTATION 4 from Sony. Check out the slate below.

Those expecting the next installment of the popular CALL OF DUTY franchise to be MODERN WARFARE 4 are in for a shock: It's not happening. "Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do. But we're not resting on our laurels," said Mark Rubin, executive producer of developer Infinity Ward. Instead, November 5 will usher in a new sub-brand with the release of CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS - an "all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast of characters, all powered by a new, next generation Call of Duty engine that redefines the series for the next generation." Check out a live-action teaser below, right here on The Rock Father:

No, it's not family-friendly (I say "keep the kids off of it!"), but I know a lot of Daddys and Mommys that slip quietly into solider mode after the kids are tucked into bed for the night. I'm one of 'em, and CALL OF DUTY has long been my franchise of choice. Now that BLACK OPS II has been out for a bit, the first DLC Map Pack has been deployed on XBOX LIVE. CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS II REVOLUTION is available today for players on Xbox 360. It might be time to call The Replacer. Yes, the role of The Rock Father may have to be played by Peter Stormare for a little bit.

It's no secret that when it comes to gaming, my loyalty lies with the XBOX. It's the system of choice here at Rock Father HQ (see my "Daddy Shooting Pixels" posts), and while it's used primarily after the kids go to bed, I'm thinking about finally getting a KINECT to use with the whole family. While I ponder that, the folks over at the official Microsoft Store just hit The Rock Father with a great deal that all of you might want to take advantage of...
