The late 80s and early 90s were a fun time for Disney television animation, and as the forthcoming Disney XD reboot of DuckTales should indicate, audiences are ready for a throwback. At the same time those classic cartoons were delighting kids after school, the age of 8-bit and 16-bit gaming was hitting hard, and titles based on the television series were being released on a regular basis. Now, those looking for a new burst of retro gaming goodness can delve into Capcom's The Disney Afternoon Collection - a value-priced bundle of six classic games, perfect for parents like me to introduce a new generation to some NES classics via PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.  Check out a preview below...

We're getting extremely close to the theatrical debut of ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS Story, the very first of the standalone STAR WARS films, blasting into theaters on December 16. From director Gareth Edwards, this new tale tells the story of a group of unlikely heroes that band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves. As it's been for the past four decades, a key component to bringing that cinematic fun to life at home has been with STAR WARS action figures, vehicles and playsets - something I enjoyed back in the Kenner era, and something that our daughters enjoy with a wide array of toys from Hasbro. With that in mind, Disney/Lucasfilm, along with many of their product partners have been inviting fans to #GoRogue, telling their own stories. To celebrate, Disney Consumer Products and THE ROCK FATHER Magazine are offering readers a chance to #GoRogue and win a box of STAR WARS toys from Hasbro! Get details and enter below...

After a television movie and plenty of teasers over the past few months, THE LION GUARD made its official debut on Disney Junior last week, and along with the launch comes a whole new line of merchandise centered around the adventures of Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, and his diverse group of friends as they unite to protect the Pride Lands. While we don't have any of it here just yet, we did spot some new items at Disney Store today during a visit to the Fashion Outlets of Chicago - and Little Finley found her curiosity piqued. Take a look at some of what Disney Consumer Products is currently rolling out at retail...

With the release of Disney•Pixar's THE GOOD DINOSAUR into theaters last month, a milestone was celebrated - 20 years of Disney•Pixar animated feature films. It was November of 1995 when audiences first stepped inside of Andy's room to begin a decades-long series of adventures with Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Rex and an ever-expanding crew of toys - some familiar, some not. With TOY STORY as fresh as ever for new generations of audiences (fueled by cool shorts like the recent TOY STORY THAT TIME FORGOT), Disney Consumer Products has partnered with Mattel for a new collection of 20th Anniversary Toys - one of which (Andy's Room Buddies 7-Pack Figure Gift Set) arrived here at Rock Father HQ in a surprise box - packed alongside THE GOOD DINOSAUR Galloping Butch Figure by TOMY... Pixar's past and present in figure form.

I won't apologize for it, but if you're not a STAR WARS fan, you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of coverage coming at you from a galaxy far, far away. As we head toward #ForceFriday, (there's a good chance you've seen my daily Force Friday Countdown posts) the SW news keeps coming in faster, and in bigger numbers.
