This #AlienDay 2018 feature brought to you in collaboration between The Rock Father™ and Entertainment Earth.

It was last Halloween that Funko dropped the curtain on their first offering of 8-Bit Horror Pops - an assortment of Pop! Vinyl figures that put a retro video game spin on iconic characters like Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) and the Xenomorph from Ridley Scott's ALIEN. As for the latter, the 8-Bit Alien has been issued a couple of times thus far in standard and blood-splattered editions as a complement to a larger line of ALIENS Pop! Vinyl. Now comes the time to add a third variant to the mix with the surprise release of the Entertainment Earth Exclusive "Video Game Deco" 8-Bit Xenomorph. This is the most colorful variation yet, taking inspiration from the famed ALIEN 3 video game with accents of blue and red. The figure is available to pre-order right now (while supplies last), but I've already got one and can give you an exclusive hands-on look right here!

As the liquidation of Toys "R" Us officially got underway last week, the saga has continued behind-the-scenes as shoppers began visiting stores in hopes of scoring a deal. For the locations that have just begun the wind-down, many felt disappointment when met with markdowns as low as 5% (game systems, LEGO) with most categories priced at just a 10% savings. While there were some higher discounts like 20% off on Easter items and bike accessories, other areas had no markdown at all - consumables like food and diapers. On the flipside, stores that began closing operations in February are nearly wiped-out, and I visited a few this past weekend. It was a sad scene at the Babies "R" Us in Vernon Hills, Illinois - set to close for good on March 31. My wife and I ordered baby furniture from that location back when our first daughter was born. Now, it's a mostly-empty building where almost everything is for sale, surprisingly stocked with a lot of non-baby toys that I suspect were dumped on the first wave of closing stores in a warehouse purge. We picked up a couple of Flip Zee Girls (Jay at Play) that our little ones had been asking for. My big score was a stockpile of LR44 batteries - the button-style that many toys consume very quickly. Deals aside, I'd rather pay full price and have 33K jobs still intact. Elsewhere the fallout is starting to be felt.

Last month, while browsing the massive Funko booth at the 115th North American International Toy Fair in New York City, one of my favorite finds was the new line of SNL POP! Vinyl Figures. The first wave will bring forth characters from some classic sketches - from Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg doing "Dick in a Box" to Will Ferrell breaking out some "more cowbell" as Gene Frenkle, there's even Tom Hanks' recent cult icon, David S. Pumpkins. But out of all the characters being brought into plastic for the POP! series, there isn't one that's scene more airtime than Bill Hader's Stefon. Since Hader recently made his return to Saturday Night Live to host for the first time, Stefon returned with him, and that makes this the right time to let you know that if you're a fan, you probably need his POP! These are available for pre-order now via my affiliates at Entertainment Earth, and will be up soon on the official Funko Shop.

It's Tax Season, and depending on where you fall in life, that can mean a feeling of excitement or a feeling of dread. For those who will be receiving a refund this year, I always say "don't blow it!" - but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have a little fun with some of it. If gaming is your thing, my friends at GameStop want to help you stretch your refund... you could even say "reFUN" your refund as your cash respawns. They've got some of the hottest gaming gear at some great prices, and it kicked-off with the one-day PRO Day (which you've already missed - queue the Pac-Man defeat noise!). But now through March 10, you can multiply those hard-earned dollars with unbeatable savings and trade-in offers on a variety of games, consoles, accessories, toys and apparel! To celebrate the season of savings, The Rock Father™ and GameStop are teaming-up to sweeten the deal by giving YOU a chance to WIN a Tax Season Gaming Prize Pack featuring collectibles from Funko & PDP plus accessories for the Nintendo Switch! First, let's take a quick look at some new games to be excited about in March...

Netflix #StreamTeamDreamWorks Trollhunters Part 2 is now streaming on Netflix, and not long ago I was out at DreamWorks Animation in Glendale, California to get an early look at the new season, along with a sneak-preview of what's on the horizon as the Tales of Arcadia expands. Fans of the series have been looking for more ways to enjoy it, and that brings us to the merchandise, which the folks at Funko (an affiliate) have been rolling out over the past few months. In addition to some fantastic 3.75" action figures, characters from Trollhunters have made their way into Funko's signature POP! Vinyl line under POP! Television. Available now through Funko Shop, Target and coming soon to Entertainment Earth, the team at DreamWorks sent over an assortment for review here at Rock Father HQ. Let's take a look...
