For a series than began as a Frankenstein'd story crafted by combining several Japanese series' from Toei Animation, Voltron has certainly come a long way in the past 34 years. Already popular in Japan, Beast King GoLion is what most Americans would come to recognize as Voltron: Defender of the Universe, while the Armored Fleet Dairugger XV  became the second iteration of Voltron to hit the 'States, though a vehicular version that's oft-forgotten in favor of the lion-based counterparts. Since the launch of the Netflix Original Series, DreamWorks' Voltron: Legendary Defender in 2016, renewed interest in the character and it's past (fueled largely by the reissued Voltron '84) has led to it becoming a staple of Comic-Con. For this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego, there's a huge amount of Voltron goodness coming into play - you could even say that it's an unusually large amount this year, packed with reveals and SDCC exclusives. The ONE THOUSAND MILES TOUR featuring Hoobastank,  OLDCODEX, Against The Current, [Nagoya, Osaka only], and coldrain [Tokyo only] kicks off later this month in Japan. Presented by H.I.P., tickets for all shows are on-sale now, with full details listed below. This month, Japanese pop/rock band, ONE OK ROCK is set to hit North America hard with the U.S. release of Ambitions, their eighth album overall and first for Fueled By Ramen. Hitting the streets on January 13, the U.S. edition includes a track featuring Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, while the Japanese version (out 1/11 via A-Sketch) features a duet with Avril Lavigne. Both versions feature Five Seconds of Summer making a guest appearance on the album closer, "Take What You Want." To celebrate the release, ONE OK ROCK will be performing a short, six-date North American Tour from 1/15-1/24. Check out music and dates below...

Yes, after 28 years of threatening the possibility, GWAR are headed for Japan. The band will bring their unique brand of sonic terror to the resting place of Godzilla on Thursday, March 6 at Club Quattro in Osaka, Japan, and Friday, March 7th at Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo.
