As the first Jurassic Park celebrates its 25th Anniversary, Universal Brand Development and Film Concerts Live! have announced the world premiere of Jurassic World in Concert, featuring the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), led by guest conductor Emil de Cou. Ahead of this summer's release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the NSO will perform the complete Jurassic World score live, while Colin Trevorrow's hugely successful 2015 film is projected in HD onto a massive screen. The opening night of Jurassic World in Concert will take place on May 30 with a special concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

It's gonna be another big year at the movies - but will it be at the box office? After a year soft on theater receipts and some less-than-stellar movie tie-ins, JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM is looming on the horizon, prepping for its June 22, 2018 release. While the promotional partners are vast, one returning from 2015's Jurassic World is LEGO Group, and today they've announced a joint partnership with Universal Brand Development for a collection that goes beyond the norm. Like the last time around, they'll offer an expanded line of construction sets, all-new animated content, and, for the first time ever, a lifestyle collection. Among the new collections will be construction sets that span every LEGO age category (Duplo/Juniors/LEGO), as well as two all-new, animated videos, and a collection of soft lines and publishing to reach audiences beyond the toy aisle. A few sets have been revealed this week, with more set to debut at Toy Fair in New York in mid-February (I will be in attendance for that).

Time flies, but it's already been more than two years since our first trip to JURASSIC WORLD. Now, we're in for a return on June 22, 2018, and the first trailer for JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM has arrived. In this new adventure, a rescue mission is in order as the dinosaurs find themselves in danger of extinction once more, opening new debate to what kind of protection these genetically-resurrected animals should be entitled to. Check out the trailer below!

Mattel is entering JURASSIC WORLD...

After a massive success last year, Universal is taking another trip back to JURASSIC WORLD in 2018, but just because the next chapter in the film series is two years off, kids (and grownups) won't have to wait for more ways to live the adventure at home. News just hit Rock Father HQ that Mattel has been granted the master license for the JURASSIC WORLD franchise starting in July 2017, with the toymaker partnering with NBCUniversal to begin designing and developing new lines immediately, with the first products set to hit in early 2018. Mattel's license rights include a wide variety of products, including (but not limited to) action figures, play-sets, vehicles, games, plush, role-play, preschool, and activity toys. While it was main competitor Hasbro that handled most of those for last year's film, Mattel first dipped into JURASSIC WORLD with a collection of diecast vehicles under their iconic Matchbox line.

When my 2015 Holiday Wish Guide recently launched here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine, one of the first things featured on the site were the fantastic toys, books and games based on what has thus-far been 2015's biggest movie. Now, JURASSIC WORLD has come home for the holidays on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD, and the folks at Universal Studios Home Entertainment and I are giving readers a chance to win the film on Blu-ray Combo Pack - the ultimate stocking stuffer for Dino-enthusiasts...

JURASSIC WORLD was hands-down one of the biggest movies of the year, and of all-time. While the movie has come home just in-time for the Holiday gifting season, it's not just the movie that could come stomping down chimneys and into stockings and under Christmas trees this year. Dinosaurs are always popular with kids, and while the movie might've been a PG-13 affair, there's something for everyone when it comes to the off-screen fun. There's Playskool Heroes dinosaurs and figures, Hasbro dinos and vehicles, LEGO Jurassic Park building sets, cool diecast vehicles from Matchbox and Jada Toys and much more. JURASSIC WORLD is a featured pick in my 2015 Holiday Wish Guide here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine.
