When our kids were smaller, some favorite learning toys here came from LeapFrog. Classics like the learning table and My Pal Scout come to mind, and now as we give gifts to others with a new generation of little ones, it's always fun to see the new stuff that's been coming out. Two Holiday Wish Guide Picks this year are the LeapFrog Scout's Get Up and Go Walker (ages 3-36 months) and the Target-exclusive Water & Count Veggie Garden (ages 9-36 months). Now, The Rock Father™ and LeapFrog have teamed-up not only to showcase these great new toys as holiday gift ideas, but we're also giving you a chance to win the pair! One (1) lucky reader will receive both!

PBS KIDS VIPHere's a Rock Father fact that most people don't know: In 1987, while in Fifth Grade, I became an award-winning author... a "Young Author," to be exact. After penning a short story called THE LITTLE CHAMP (which I'd later come to find out was a very technically-inaccurate portrayal of a race horse), I got to represent my school at the Illinois Reading Council's Annual Young Authors' Conference at Illinois State University. Fast-forward about 27 years, and I'm a parent, and through my relationship with PBS KIDS, am helping to spread the word about getting other kids writing for the annual PBS KIDS Writers Contest. TONIGHT (March 18, 2014), I will be co-hosting the #PBSKIDSWrite Twitter Party, and I'd love it if you could join!

Just ahead of the Holiday Shopping kick-off with Black Friday (or Thursday), the folks over at LeapFrog have revealed their "Must Have" toys that are topping kids' wish lists this year. Though it didn't make their list (it's been out for quite awhile), my three-year-old daughter absolutely loves her LeapFrog My Own Leaptop (available from Walmart or Target), which we have programmed with messages from a few different family members. Her face really lights up when she proudly announces that she "has to check email." And now, on with the list...

As the retail landscape continues to evolve, Barnes & Noble has been expanding their online product assortment and offering some very competitive pricing (even rivaling Amazon at times) in order to avoid a fate like that of the recently-departed Borders. That said, it's a good time for consumers, and I was surprised to learn that it's BABY WEEK at Barnes & Noble, and that they're offering 25% Off Hundreds of Baby Gifts and Essentials at BN.com. But that's not all. They have other great deals for parents on items for kids, and The Rock Father™ is sharing the info below...
