Having been originally released back in 2005, MY LITTLE PONY: A VERY MINTY CHRISTMAS is a movie that my wife and I missed the first time around - coming long after our own childhood, but about four years prior to us becoming parents ourselves. Released on DVD by Shout! Factory Kids for 2013 as part of their MY LITTLE PONY "Classic Movies" Collection, I sat down to watch it with my four-year-old daughter, and today it makes my annual 25 Days of Xmas countdown here on The Rock Father.

Build-A-BearFor Black Friday 2013, the folks at Build-a-Bear Workshop have rolled out several special deals. Nick and Joy Sock Monkeys are $10 each or two for $15! Plus, add their signature outfits for $6 each (11/29 only, While quantities last). They also have 50% off All Smurf Friends! Promotional pricing cannot be combined with other coupons or offers.

FluttershyWe still have yet to see the movie, MY LITTLE PONY: EQUESTRIA GIRLS (available on Blu-ray & DVD from Shout! Factory), but that didn't stop my oldest daughter from being incredibly excited when she first encountered Hasbro's line of Equestria Girls dolls when they showed up at retail over the summer. Despite never seeing the movie, she was able to name every Equestria Girl on the box, simply by being familiar with their counterparts on MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC, which airs regularly on The Hub. Recommended for Ages 5+, these students from Canterlot High make an appearance here in my 2013 Holiday Gift Guide on The Rock Father.

Whenever I post something that falls into this realm, I always have to add a preface, because I get asked: No, I am not a "Brony." I have two daughters that absolutely adore MY LITTLE PONY, but even even though I've watched it with them on The Hub, I cannot get into MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC. But... I know guys that do (some of whom read this site), and I don't knock it, but it's just not for me. That said, the documentary film, BRONIES: THE EXTREMELY UNEXPECTED ADULT FANS OF MY LITTLE PONY is getting a wide-release on DVD on December 17th via MVD Entertainment Group.

I am not attending Comic-Con International in San Diego. Just getting that out there, because people keep asking. I wish I was, but I have to pick-and-choose my adventures... after all, I'm an at-home Dad, and my little ones need me here. That said, I'm still covering some select happenings from SDCC, and my friends at Mimoco are continuing their reveal for their 2013 SDCC Exclusive MIMOBOTs. We already know that characters from SOUTH PARK, STAR WARS, WORKAHOLICS, and MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC are in the lineup. So who's up next? BRUCE LEE, and the Ice King from ADVENTURE TIME.
