At our house, it seems like JoJo Siwa came out of nowhere, and that was evident on a recent trip to Walmart when The Rock Daughters™ were scoping her merch and telling us "that's the girl we watch on YouTube." Indeed, her power is mighty, and that's backed by 20 million social media followers (her dog even has a million followers on Instagram). Now, the newest Nickelodeon star is bursting onto DVD with the Walmart exclusive special release of JoJo Siwa: My World. This special DVD release from Nickelodeon Home Entertainment contains JoJo’s first-ever concert special as well as behind-the-scenes content with JoJo herself. JoJo takes fans on a journey through all of the moments of her life that have led her to her very own concert performance at Mall of America. As part of my Holiday Wish GuideGiveaway series here on The Rock Father™ Magazine, I've teamed-up with Nickelodeon to give you a shot at winning JoJo's new DVD!

In addition to my work here on The Rock Father™ Magazine, I veer off in many directions. As some of you may know, I am a member of The Toy Insider's extended family - contributing to their website as a member of their Parent Advisory Board, and a frequent participant in their excellent toy-based Twitter Parties. When it comes to the holiday season, you'd be hard-pressed to find a Holiday Gift Guide as expansive as the one that The Toy Insider puts together, one that exists in print (together with Family Circle) and online, with selections chosen by a team of experts and sorted by age and interest. Even I chip in with a "Rock Father Pick!" Now, despite the fact that we're often swimming in toys here at Rock Father HQ (much of which we donate), my girls do have a small "wish list," and with that The Toy Insider sent a surprise. In fact, all of the Toy Insider parents received a mystery box, and with ours we did a little early preview of Christmas morning here at home. With just four items, the response from all girls is all that a parent could hope for - and one that makes me really think about the "less is more" approach to Christmas. A few well-targeted gifts will beat the "piles of stuff" any day, and the video below shows just that. Take a look at the video, and then read on for some thoughts on these four Hot Holiday Picks!

In 1984, the world was first introduced to two teams of heroes, both based out of New York City, and each comprised of four members with a distinct set of talents. Operating in two different dimensions (and under different rights holders), the odds of the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES working alongside the GHOSTBUSTERS seemed unlikely. Defying the odds, that's exactly what happened back in 2014, when IDW Publishing brought the whole crew together for an interdimensional adventure in comic book form, released as a 30th anniversary celebration for the two franchises. Now, in 2017, they've come back together for a comic book sequel, and for the first time ever... toys. From Playmates Toys comes NINJA GHOSTBUSTERS, a collection action figures that features the Turtles as their Ghostbusters counterparts! Sent to us for review, NINJA GHOSTBUSTERS land not only in my annual Halloween countdown, but also on the 2017 Holiday Wish Guide™!

As the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have evolved over the past few decades, they've had a habit of stepping into their own version of the "monster mash" on more than a few occasions. Mikey, Leo, Donnie and Raph have not only battled all manor of supernatural beast, but they've also become them at times. In a tale that finds a quartet of reptiles mutated into humanoid form, few things are off-limits as the story sometimes becomes multi-dimensional. Have they really become monsters, or are they simply wearing costumes? Depends on the time, but years ago Playmates Toys issued some crossover figures in which The Universal Monsters were mashed-up with the Turtles themselves. Now, that general spirit is back with TALES OF THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MONSTERS + MUTANTS, a recent four-episode arc of the hit Nickelodeon series (now in its final season), and with that comes some fantastic new action figures from the folks at Playmates!

He may not know it, but SpongeBob Squarepants is my nemesis. Actually, if we're being honest, he's just one of my nemeses, but for years Mr. Squarepants has been on that shortlist of undesirables, and I can't pick a singular reason for it. I don't like his voice... his animation... in fact, I can't find a single redeeming quality in SpongeBob, and I know I've pointed that out before. Still, many of you enjoy his antics, and that's why I continue to keep tabs on what they're up to down in Bikini Bottom. This Halloween, Nickeloden will be treating viewers to a spooky stop-motion special with the premiere of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom, on Friday, Oct. 13, at 7p.m. (ET/PT). This new holiday special spins a tale of the Flying Dutchman (Brian Doyle-Murray) coming to Bikini Bottom to make sure everyone in town is scared--especially SpongeBob, who seems to be unflappable in his belief that spooky things are actually funny.
