The PAW Patrol is back for spooktacular adventures in the brand new DVD collection, PAW Patrol: Halloween Heroes. Available now, PAW Patrol fans can get into the Halloween spirit with the pups as they bravely board a ghostly pirate ship, explore cabins, caves and mazes, try to solve the haunting of the Lookout Tower and more. It'll be a scary good time watching all seven PAW Patrol adventures including a really ghoul double-length special! As part of our annual 31 Days of Halloween here at The Rock Father™ Magazine, Nickelodeon DVD and I have teamed-up to get a few readers hooked-up with copies of the DVD just in time for the spooky season!
Cool Kickstarter Features are promoted/sponsored looks at crowdfunding campaigns of note...
Storyball, a revolutionary and award-winning, interactive smart ball that encourages children to keep active and playful, launches today. Using screen-free technology, sound cues, haptic feedback, and A.I. machine learning, Storyball engages a child in active, educational and stimulating play. The Kickstarter campaign, which is being managed by the Launchpad Agency, launches today and has a funding goal of $30,000 USD (it's halfway there as of this writing).
With two little girls here at Rock Father™ HQ, my wife and I have purchased more than a few pairs of "kid-safe" headphones over the past few years, and frankly, most of them are garbage. From expensive ones that the kids find uncomfortable to the cool-looking, yet terrible-sounding licensed variety sold for cheap at retailers like Five Below, I've checked out a bunch and had never found any that I could really be excited about until now. At New York Toy Fair, I came across something unexpected while browsing the latest offerings from the crew over at Wicked Cool Toys. They've recently partnered with Halo Acoustic to help bring CozyPhones to a wider audience, and after bringing a couple of pairs back to Illinois, they're an immediate hit. CozyPhones are a 3-in-1 combo of headphones, sleep mask and a stylish headband.
At the 115th North American International Toy Fair in NYC, Little Kids Inc. will drop the curtain on a vast new line of new bubble and water products ahead of the spring season. Personally, I'm ready to be done with winter, and a look at some cool new bubble blasters will no doubt amp-up the cabin fever. New this year are items featuring the iconic Sesame Street and Entertainment One's sizzling hot PJ Masks property, including bubble blowing vehicles featuring the TV show's three heroes (Cat Boy, Owlette and Gekko) as well as Little Kids' popular Water Rescue Packs that shoot water up to 30 feet. The spring line will also include newly designed bubble products created specifically for pre-schooler's little hands that, in addition to blowing bubbles, feature age-appropriate play patterns for the youngest kids to learn while playing. Returning favorite properties including Nickelodeon's™ Paw Patrol™ and Shimmer and Shine™ and Jelly Belly® and Peeps® branded products in time for Easter baskets.
For the past few years, Spin Master has absolutely been killing it on all fronts - becoming a powerhouse not just in toys, but also as an entertainment company with some truly stellar IP. At the front of that, PAW Patrol is no doubt their flagship brand, and it's one we're very familiar with here at Rock Father™ HQ. Last year, two items from that line landed on my annual Holiday Wish Guide™, with the My Size Lookout and Sea Patroller ranking among 2017's best toys. For those interested in how a property can become a hit on all levels, there's a must-read article from Canada's The Globe and Mail that chronicles the development of PAW Patrol from 2010 to its debut in 2013 and where it's headed in 2018. Had things developed differently, instead of Ryder and the PAW Patrol, we could've wound up with "Raffi and The Rescue Dogs."
In my adventures over the years, I've had the opportunity to drive a lot of different vehicles. What I've come to realize is that I'm definitely a "car guy" - meaning that I have little interest in motorcycles, and a limited knowledge of trucks. That doesn't mean that I haven't driven them, as I've been behind the wheel of many, but surprisingly it's full-size pickup trucks that have largely eluded me. That's just one reason why I was so intrigued by the chance to get behind the wheel of the 2017 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab - a full-size pickup, and a ride that feels just gigantic compared to what I'm used to. The quick take? I loved it.
