It seems that every day is [INSERT NAME HERE] DAY, and today is a day that I can get behind... #AlienDay! Indeed, today is a global celebration of the franchise launched with the 1979 release of Ridley Scott's Alien, and continuing on May 19 with the release of his latest film, Alien: Covenant. Now comes some news from my friends at PPW Toys that they're bringing the famed Xenomorph into an all-new form... that of Mr. Potato Head. But the Alien won't be alone, as Predator (or is that, Pred-tater?) will be in the PopTater mix as well, allowing toy fans of all ages to have a mighty Alien vs. Predator battle to see who ends up fried. Additionally, Ripley and the crew are also getting a set of Wooden Nesting Dolls as well! Check these out...

It's impossible to think of Princess Leia without thinking of the late Carrie Fisher, as the character she inhabited lives on in many forms. This year, as Star Wars celebrates its 40th Anniversary, the folks at PPW Toys are continuing their line of licensed Mr Potato Head PopTaters, and as we spin things back to 1977, it's time for a "classic" Mrs. Potato Head version of Princess Leia!

#GhostbustersWeek rolls on with one of the most interesting collectibles...

Who could've predicted that nesting dolls would become such a craze? Perhaps the Russians circa 1890, but over the past couple of years, pop culture-themed nesting dolls have become sought-after collectibles, and one company leading the charge is PPW Toys. Earlier this week we took a look at their GHOSTBUSTERS Classics PopTaters, but today we take a look at something new that they sent us for review - their GHOSTBUSTERS Nesting Dolls - a set that features all four original Ghostbusters - Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, Winston Zeddemore and Ray Stantz, along with The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and Slimer!

#GhostbustersWeek continues with a pair of figures you won't want to roast or fry...

For the past few years, PPW Toys has been expanding their line of PopTaters by mashing-up pop culture licenses like STAR WARS and MARVEL Comics with unique Mr. Potato Head figures created under license from Hasbro. This summer, the GHOSTBUSTERS are in on the PopTater action, and the first pair has hit the streets under the GHOSTBUSTERS Classics banner, with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man facing off against a lone Ghostbuster, but one that it's a safe bet to say was modeled largely after Dan Aykroyd's Ray Stantz (ECTO goggles!). After all, it was Ray who chose to summon Gozer in the form of Mr. Stay Puft - "something that could never possibly destroy us." Each are available now from my allies at Entertainment Earth, or direct from the PPW Toys website. Check them out in-action here at Rock Father HQ!

In my recent travels, I discovered that I was a little behind on my PopTaters news... that my friends at PPW Toys had slipped out early details on some new characters to join their ever-growing assortment of pop culture-infused Mr. Potato Head dolls, each crafted under license from Hasbro. With the success of their MARVEL line, which recently added some new members of THE AVENGERS, PPW Toys is unleashing Black Panther (hot off CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR), and the first-ever Benedict Cumberbatch PopTater: DOCTOR STRANGE! Ahead of the November 4 release of the next chapter in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe, this strange addition to the PopTaters collection will hit retail in August. Check it out below, and pre-order now through Entertainment Earth!

Among the more unexpectedly-cool items to arrive in the world of STAR WARS collectibles this past year are the Nesting Dolls that PPW Toys has been putting out. After successful "Old Trilogy" collections including themed sets for The EmpireThe RebellionJabba's Palace and a Jedi & Droids batch, J.J. Abrams' record-breaking STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS has now received the nesting doll treatment. Available now from Entertainment Earth, PPW's first collection from the new trilogy includes BB-8, Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron and Kylo Ren. Having previously-reviewed The Rebellion set here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine, I was excited when PPW had these sent over... but truth be told, it's really our own little Finn who has really become enamored with the nesting dolls, incorporating them into her regular STAR WARS play with big sister Addie.
