It's almost Halloween, and finally those long-awaited Super Monsters toys are coming! I gave you your first-look at the prototypes from Toy Fair back in March, and now Hasbro's Playskool is getting ready to unleash these super-cute monsters ahead of the Season Two Premiere on Netflix, which arrives alongside a new mini movie - Super Monsters Save Halloween - on October 5th. On a recent visit to Target, my wife and I happened to find the first piece of Super Monsters merch in the wild - a Halloween-themed t-shirt that unfortunately only came in toddler sizes. The toys, however, are recommended for ages 3 and up, but I see a bigger audience here - not just for kids, but also grownups who love Halloween and all things spooky! Take a look at some of what's up for pre-order via my associate, Amazon, right now...

This Solo: A Star Wars Story toy feature presented in collaboration between The Rock Father™ and Entertainment Earth...

As modern Star Wars fans, we're pretty spoiled in that since 2015 we've been getting new films every year. We've seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) and this year we've got Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). And, as J.J. Abrams preps to shoot the Untitled Episode IX (2019), there's a new series of films from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, a new Trilogy from Rian Johnson and a live-action television series from Jon Favreau all starting to take shape on the horizon. With each new film comes a new range of toys and collectibles, and in recent years we've seen that skew largely toward grownups - the "big kids" who were once little kids when the Original Trilogy (1977-1983) was released, or even stranger to me - the kids who grew up on the Prequel Trilogy (1999-2005). Along the way, I think that sometimes what gets lost is the fact that while many Star Wars toys are being purchased by collectors, there's always new generations who are just experiencing the Saga for the very first time. With that in mind, Hasbro is peppering the release of their new toys from Solo: A Star Wars Story with some new offerings from their Galactic Heroes line geared toward the youngest fans - ages 3-7. And like all the new product launches, there's not only characters from the latest film, but also those from the the past... or "a long time ago... in a galaxy far, far away." My friends at Entertainment Earth sent over one of those new toys - the Star Wars Galactic Heroes 2-in-1 Millennium Falcon, and we're going hands-on in The Toy Testing Facility at Rock Father™ HQ!

Last year, Sesame Street broke new ground with the addition of Julia, a new Muppet with Autism. An old friend of Elmo's, Julia made her debut during World Autism Month/National Autism Awareness Month bringing with her a message - that we can "see amazing in all children." Now, as Julia celebrates one year on Sesame Street, the folks at Hasbro are bringing her into the toy aisle as a new neighbor in their Playskool mini plush line. Available now from Hasbro Toy Shop (an affiliate) and major retailers nationwide, Julia is a cuddly friend for children ages 12 months and up! See her below...

It was nearly two years ago that I first mentioned  SUPER MONSTERS here in the virtual pages of The Rock Father™ Magazine, and last Halloween it came roaring onto Netflix, where it became a surprise hit of the spooky season. It's become a common thing that I've heard both here at Rock Father HQ and echoed among other parents when a show becomes a hit seemingly out of nowhere... "are there toys?" With Super Monsters, the answer is now a big YES, and thanks to Hasbro, a new collection of Super Monsters toys will be hitting retail just in-time for Halloween 2018. While these toys are bound to delight preschoolers and small children everywhere, I'm predicting that these will see some big crossover success with certain grownup collectors as well. Fans of the Universal Monsters, classic horror films, Halloween enthusiasts and even those who were big into Monster High are gonna dig these - and I've seen similar enthusiasm around another recent property, Disney Junior's Vampirina. At the 115th North American International Toy Fair in New York City, I got a first-hand look at the prototypes for the new Super Monsters toys, including their School Bus (which was sculpted in clay)!

Nickelodeon's new hit preschool series Top Wing is getting a toy line. The product line, which includes figures, vehicles and plush inspired by the show’s four best friend rescue birds, will launch in the U.S. this fall, followed by international markets in Spring 2019. These new toys will arrive courtesy of Hasbro, and will be released under the iconic PLAYSKOOL banner. News arrived today ahead of Toy Fair in New York...

The Netflix Original Series SUPER MONSTERS was an immediate hit upon its debut last fall, just in-time for Halloween. One looming question (and several of you have asked) is "will there be any Super Monsters toys?" As of today, I can answer that question with a hearty YES! Ahead of the 115th North American International Toy Fair in New York, Hasbro today announced that it has reached "an agreement in principle" with Netflix to create play experiences for kids under its PLAYSKOOL brand, based on Netflix’s original preschool series, Super Monsters. I don't have pictures just yet (hopefully I'll see some of these toys this weekend), but for now here's the details via the official announcement...
