The late 80s and early 90s were a fun time for Disney television animation, and as the forthcoming Disney XD reboot of DuckTales should indicate, audiences are ready for a throwback. At the same time those classic cartoons were delighting kids after school, the age of 8-bit and 16-bit gaming was hitting hard, and titles based on the television series were being released on a regular basis. Now, those looking for a new burst of retro gaming goodness can delve into Capcom's The Disney Afternoon Collection - a value-priced bundle of six classic games, perfect for parents like me to introduce a new generation to some NES classics via PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.  Check out a preview below...

Disney•Pixar's Cars 3 will race into theaters on June 16, but a few days prior (June 13), Warner Bros. Games will unleash Cars 3: Driven to Win, an all-new video game for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 4, Sony PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Wii U. Your road to becoming a champion starts with this first look of Cars 3: Driven to Win as you gear-up to speed into the world of Lightning McQueen, Cruz Ramirez, Jackson Storm and other beloved characters as you determine your path to racing mastery! Check out the preview below, and stay tuned for some exclusive coverage from the #Cars3Event, coming soon to The Rock Father™ Magazine.

With just a few weeks left until Christmas, the window of time to search for that perfect gift is getting smaller and smaller. For those that have a gamer to buy for, there's some great options that I've featured here on the site over the past year - big hits like Disney Infinity 2.0 and CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE. But those are just the tip of the iceberg, and when it comes to gaming, your local GameStop store has a ton of great deals and new releases for every member of the family, from "big" gifts like a new XBOX One or Playstation 4, to stocking stuffers like the latest figures from Skylanders Trap Team. Now, GameStop and THE ROCK FATHER have teamed-up to highlight some great picks from the GameStop Holiday Hub in this Gaming Special Edition entry into my 2014 Holiday Wish Guide!

When it comes to video gaming, I still have not yet entered the "Next Generation," which is technically already here. I've also not yet played DISNEY INFINITY, despite covering news on it for over a year at this point - but the upcoming release of DISNEY INFINITY: MARVEL SUPER HEROES (2.0 Edition) just might be the push I need. But then there's conflict since I've long been a loyalist to the Microsoft XBOX 360, but Sony's PS4 is looking more and more appealing with the news that landed here at Rock Father HQ this evening: Disney and Sony have teamed up for a Collector's Edition for both PS4 and PS3, and a hardware bundle for the PS3 (not sure why they wouldn't go PS4 on that, though). Check out the trailer and specs...

There's that meme that always floats around - you know the one, with Fry from FUTURAMA, eagerly waving a stack of bills with the caption, "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" That's sort of where I am with this - a longtime CALL OF DUTY and XBOX loyalist, taking a peek at the press release for CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE, that landed in my inbox from Activision yesterday. Available on November 4, and developed for "next gen" consoles (Xbox One, Playstation 4) and PC, the next installment of the storied CALL OF DUTY franchise looks like nothing that's come before it. And it's got Kevin Spacey playing the lead. Take a look at the reveal trailer below, and then I'll talk some more...

On October 14, 2014, Warner Bros. Games will release BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT (Pre-order: Amazon | GameStop), the finale to their Arkham Trilogy. While the game was just officially announced today and details are scarce, the Next Gen-only title will arrive for PC, XBOX One, and PLAYSTATION 4. I guess this means I finally need to get an XBOX One (I'm still on the XBOX 360), as this game looks fantastic. The Rocksteady crew have certainly taken some of that Christopher Nolan-influence and run with it, and their driveable BATMOBILE is one mean ride. See the trailer, "Father to Son," below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...
