It's officially #ForceFriday! As of now, 12;01am local time, products from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS have become available at retailers everywhere. Having written this very post in advance, I should (in theory) be browsing a local TARGET Supercenter right now, possibly choosing a few items to purchase for our family. While EVERYONE is in on the #ForceFriday action (from retailers you'd expect... to many you wouldn't), I'm only deeming four of them as Officially Rock Father-Approved: TARGET (I'm in one of their STAR WARS commercials!), Entertainment Earth (who rules), Disney Store (tons of fun exclusives) and Amazon (an associate of mine). Not to slight anyone else, but I have relationships with those. Since May 4th, we've been following Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar - presenting a daily look at items from nearly four decades of STAR WARS toys, all leading up to this day. You can click here to see each day's entry, along with several "bonus" posts that I've sprinkled in along the way.

As STAR WARS fans eagerly await the arrival of #ForceFriday at 12:01am on September 4th, 2015 (just hours from this posting), I'm spinning back the clock to 1999. Before I go further, just think of this: when STAR WARS: EPISODE I - THE PHANTOM MENACE was released in 1999, it had been 16 years from the release of STAR WARS: EPISODE VI - RETURN OF THE JEDI. When STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS (Episode VII) arrives in December, it will be 16 years from THE PHANTOM MENACE. Time flies faster than the Millennium Falcon. 1999 seems like a lifetime ago for me (the year I got married), but back then I was in a very different place. While this year finds me appearing in a spot for TARGET's #ShareTheForce festivities, back then I was working for another "big box." And it just so happened that I was in charge of coordinating "Midnight Madness" - the 1999 equivalent to #ForceFriday.

This is it - less than one day to go. In fact, 24 hours from this posting (12:01am local time), it will officially be #ForceFriday - the day that new toys and products from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will first be available for sale. Since May 4th, we've been following Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar - presenting a daily look at items from nearly four decades of STAR WARS toys, all leading up to #ForceFriday, September 4, 2015. The final entry before #ForceFriday is the 2012 Anakin to Darth Vader Color Change Lightsaber. We've featured a lot of sabers in the countdown, but this one is the only one that let kids choose their side - or choose to switch sides from Jedi to Sith, or Sith to Jedi.

As part of the rolling reveal of new products from STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, my friends at The LEGO Group have officially begun pulling back the curtain on their new products as part of #ForceFriday. The first set to be officially unveiled is Poe's X-Wing Fighter (75102). The 717-piece set comes with minifigures of Poe Dameron, BB-8, a Resistance X-Wing Pilot and a Resistance Ground Crew Member. Check out the pictures below, and be sure to check back to this post. I'll be sharing more LEGO Star Wars reveals here as they come in. Sets will be available at 12:01am local time at #ForceFriday events at major retailers, and online at LEGO Shop.

Mosep Binneed is one of those STAR WARS characters that was essentially a "featured extra" when it comes to the actual cinematic realm. Featured in Jabba's Palace, this Nimbian convict was an accountant, later revealed to handle the finances of Jabba the Hutt himself. Gangsters always need a good book keeper, which I assure you I know nothing about. The Black Series Mosep Binneed is today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar - presenting a daily look at items from nearly four decades of STAR WARS toys as we lead up to the debut of new toys and products from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS on #ForceFriday, September 4, 2015!

I have not yet seen any STAR WARS Play-Doh sets in-person, but they're out there. With Can Head characters and molds representing iconic ships and blasters from a galaxy far, far away, these sets will provide a ton of imaginative fun for little Jedi and Sith. The Play-Doh Millennium Falcon is today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar - presenting a daily look at items from nearly four decades of STAR WARS toys as we lead up to the debut of new toys and products from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS on #ForceFriday, September 4, 2015!
