With all the news continuing to roll in about #ForceFriday, it's time for the full details on what's cooking at Disney Store. They're preparing to feel the Force on Friday, Sept. 4, in celebration of the global retail set date for product from the highly anticipated film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In a follow-up to the announcement I shared from Disney Consumer Products the other day, the following information just rolled into Rock Father HQ...

Nute Gunray... what can I say about this guy? I do know his name is about as cheesy as they come (Raygun=Gunray), but this awkward fool had an annoying voice and never knew what to do with his hands... and aside from all of that, he was a jerk! This Trade Federation Viceroy helped invade Naboo while serving as a mindless pawn Chancellor/Emperor Palpatine aka Darth Sidious, and thus he finds no love from me. 1999's Nute Gunray figure from THE PHANTOM MENACE is today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward #ForceFriday on September 4th, the day when new toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will be available at retailers everywhere!

Some of the best moments between Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) occurred in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK - particularly those moments on Hoth. It was our first glimpse of Leia as a true leader, and likely a fitting preview for her role in THE FORCE AWAKENS. The Vintage Collection Princess Leia in Hoth Outfit (from 2010) is today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward #ForceFriday on September 4th, the day when new toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will be available at retailers everywhere!

Over the past five years or so, I've written at length about my wife and I sharing our love of STAR WARS with our girls, "The Rock Daughters." I've at times called it "Teaching The Force The Rock Father Way," but no matter what it's called, our family finds new ways to "Share the Force" each and every day. With J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS headed for cinemas on December 18th, generations will Share the Force together - and if STAR WARS Day (May 4th) was the kick-off, we can officially deem that the action is approaching hyperspace as we head toward #ForceFriday - the day that new STAR WARS toys and merchandise will begin hitting retailers Nationwide. You've seen my daily Force Friday Countdown here on the site, but now things are getting serious. My friends at Target are opening 207 stores at midnight on September 4th, and all of their locations will have special #ShareTheForce events on Saturday, September 5th, where families will find special giveaways, photo ops, activities and more. But don't wait until then to Share the Force - you can do it now... like The Rock Father before you...

There have been a lot of different radio controlled, and remote controlled versions of R2-D2 over the years. Heck, we even have an inflatable R2 that's R/C powered - but one of the more recent came from THE CLONE WARS. A long time ago, it was Kenny Baker who sat inside the Astromech droid - bringing it to life with human qualities despite his beep-boop "voice." To celebrate the birthday of Baker (born back in 1934),  the 2014 THE CLONE WARS Remote Control R2-D2 is today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward #ForceFriday on September 4th, the day when new toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will be available at retailers everywhere! I couldn't find video of this version, so here's the OG 1978 one...

Ray Park's performance as Darth Maul in STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE was one of the major highlights of the Prequel Trilogy. While he met a swift demise, it's no wonder that others who have picked up the STAR WARS torch have found ways to bring the Sith Lord back into the mix. It was Park's martial arts skill that brought Maul to life in ways that no one ever expected, and today he celebrates his 41st birthday - born back in 1974. The 2012 Ultimate FX Darth Maul Lightsaber is today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward #ForceFriday on September 4th, the day when new toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will be available at retailers everywhere!
