I do believe this is a "first" here at THE ROCK FATHER Magazine - I've removed a toy from my annual Holiday Wish Guide.  When making my yearly picks for items to recommend, there's a lot of factors that come into play while evaluating both items we've purchased and samples that we've received. Occasionally, having something for an extended period of time can find opinions shaped differently, and that's usually why I like to "live with" things for awhile when I can - having time to really experience them with the family and the kids... a point that sometimes can irk marketers that occasionally look for a "quick flip" review to be posted within a couple weeks of sending a sample. When it comes to the Wish Guide, the one thing that it all boils down to is the answer to a question: "Would my wife and I buy this for our kids?" With MY FRIEND CAYLA, the answer is simple - No, we would not.

With Christmas just two weeks ahead, I'm still hearing from lot of parents that are looking for the right tablet for their little ones. Me being "technologically cautious" and fairly limiting in tech for my own kids, I evaluate a lot of items as they come, and this year has brought some great tablets into an increasingly competitive landscape. Competition is good, and one of the late entries into the race is the ClickN KIDS Tablet 2 by CNK Digital. This 7" Android Tablet is powered by Intel, and what's really intriguing is that it's the first tablet of it's kind to offer DPI (Dual Purpose Interface) technology, allowing kids and grownups alike to use and enjoy the same device under very different conditions. The folks at CNK and I have teamed-up for a Holiday Wish Guide Giveaway in which one lucky reader will receive one of these in blue (they're available for purchase in six colors, on Rollback at Walmart right now for just $69.99). The two caveats are that I can't get this to you in time for Christmas, so we're gonna keep this one running through winter break, and while I did receive one for review I just received it and have not had a chance to do a thorough review, so I cannot yet comment based on personal experience with it. That said, are you ready to learn more and enter?

VTechWhen crafting this year's Holiday Wish Guide here on THE ROCK FATHER, one thing that became very clear is that tablets are a BIG thing. With my usually-cautious approach in mind, the standout became the VTech InnoTab MAX - a 7" High-Resolution Android tablet packed with educational experiences, room for expansion, and parental controls. In the spirit of giving, my friends at VTech have teamed-up with THE ROCK FATHER to provide an InnoTab MAX Tablet for YOU to have a chance at winning. Want your shot? Learn more and enter below...

VTech KidsIt's taken exactly 32 years, but something I wanted as a child has now become a reality. You see, back in 1982 the best television program that the world will ever know made it's premiere on NBC. David Hasselhoff, a talking Trans-am, and a whole lotta awesome rolled into living rooms on KNIGHT RIDER, the adventures of Michael Knight and K.I.T.T. inspiring generations... but it started with kids like me. Much like the science fiction of STAR WARS and STAR TREK has become reality over the years, so has that of KNIGHT RIDER. Think of how many "gadgets" K.I.T.T. had that now come standard on new cars - GPS, DVD/Blu-ray screens, games, computer-aided driving, crash protection, hands-free calling and even voice recognition. But there was one other thing from KNIGHT RIDER that I wanted, something my own imagination would have me pretending to have as I spoke to my own wrist: Michael Knight's watch, or "comlink." Thanks to VTech, it's real, and they've partnered with THE ROCK FATHER to get one of you hooked up with the new Kidizoom Smartwatch for your kids!

I have to say, I'm pretty excited about the opportunity that I'm bringing you tonight. While I've given away a lot of cool items here on THE ROCK FATHER over the past few years, I've never held a giveaway for a tablet... but that changes right now. Earlier this week, I shared by thoughts on the newest ASUS MeMO Pad 8 - but that's not the only new tablet that hit the streets from ASUS this week. For those looking for something even lighter and slimmer, the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 (ME176) hit retail, packing a lot of punch into a 7-inch tablet that weighs just 295 grams, and features the same Intel Quad-Core processor of it's bigger brother. Would you like a chance to win one? ASUS and THE ROCK FATHER have your chance, right now!

THE ROCK FATHER is a 2014 PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)Earlier today, my friends as PBS KIDS launched a revolutionary, first-of-it's-kind App that gives parents a "super power" - the power to see what their kids are watching, learning and playing on pbskids.org, and to help parents guide and maximize their kids' PBS KIDS screen time. Get ready for imitators, because this is pretty cool...
