In the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Poe Dameron mentions that The Resistance has "a spark that will light the fire that will burn The First Order down." But thematically, what if the players on the other side feel the same way? Back it up around 30 years, and you're in the timeline just following the events of 1983's Return of the Jedi, and that's right where EA's Star Wars: Battlefront II lies. To avenge the death of The Emperor, they follow his instructions to "ignite the inferno" - making reference to The Inferno Squad, in an effort to burn The Rebellion down. See the new single-player trailer for the game below, and look for it on November 14, 2017. Exclusive pre-order deals available via my affiliate, GameStop.

If you're into Mattel's Hot Wheels, you may have seen the recent Forza Motorsport assortment of the Replica Entertainment Series that's been hitting stores, and now you could say that was just a little bit of foreshadowing. Hot Wheels has partnered with Microsoft’s popular racing game to create one of the coolest expansion packs – Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels – arriving on May 9 exclusively on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs (Xbox Play Anywhere) as part of the Forza Horizon 3 Expansion Pass or as a standalone purchase for $19.99.  A trailer just hit my inbox, and I'm sharing it below. The late 80s and early 90s were a fun time for Disney television animation, and as the forthcoming Disney XD reboot of DuckTales should indicate, audiences are ready for a throwback. At the same time those classic cartoons were delighting kids after school, the age of 8-bit and 16-bit gaming was hitting hard, and titles based on the television series were being released on a regular basis. Now, those looking for a new burst of retro gaming goodness can delve into Capcom's The Disney Afternoon Collection - a value-priced bundle of six classic games, perfect for parents like me to introduce a new generation to some NES classics via PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.  Check out a preview below...

When the first two Skylanders games were released, I played them both (and reviewed the first, Spyro's Adventure, six years ago), but our girls were too young to get in on the action. When the sixth installment of the franchise, Skylanders Imaginators, was announced last year, I thought that the craze had passed us by, but then two things happened: The Netflix Original Series Skylanders Academy, and the release of the Nintendo Switch. The former introduced the kids to a world that they became enamored with, and the latter offered up a new platform to use - one where I was able to go hands-on thanks to some preview events. Then the folks at Activision hooked us up with a Starter Pack for Xbox One, and enthusiasm for Skylanders officially took hold, just in-time for the release of the latest expansion, the Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack.
