Fisher Price

I'll be sad when my girls eventually outgrow their Fisher-Price Little People. I figure that I've got at least 4-5 years left since the baby is just about to start getting into them, but Little People have come a long way since I had them growing up. Now, they've even got seasonal exclusives for nearly every Holiday or special occasion. In fact, I've already got a Christmas-themed "Tree Lighting in Discovery Park" purchased and tucked away for Finley to receive in December... I like to plan ahead. Now, with St. Patrick's Day coming up (March 17, 2013) and Easter hitting early this year (March 31, 2013), Fisher-Price has some cute exclusives perfect for Spring play. Check these out...

No, TOY STORY 4 is not happening... yet, and any word otherwise is simply a rumor. But, Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the gang are back in a new iOS game called TOY STORY: SMASH IT!, that was just released this week. The folks at Disney Publishing Worldwide got in touch with The Rock Father with details on the new game, along with some crazy "March Madness" specials on a trio of classic Apps. Check 'em out below!

Times may change, but over the past sixty years, one constant has been the presence of MATCHBOX cars and toys, both on store shelves (and pegs), and in the homes of families everywhere. While the line has seen some ups-and-downs since it's launch in 1953, six decades of MATCHBOX memories have been created for parents and kids alike.

Since I didn't go to the recent American International Toy Fair in-person, I've digitally received a lot of official info on some great toys for 2013 that I'm still sorting through as time allows. One line I've been wanting to preview for you is the upcoming offerings from Hasbro's MY LITTLE PONY collection. Based on The Hub's hit series, MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC, there's a lot of new toys on the way in addition to the Toys "R" Us Exclusives that I previously posted here on The Rock Father.

JENGA BOOM (Game Review)

Written by

Until this month, I'd never owned a JENGA game. It's a classic that I've played in the past, but for some reason I just never had one to call my own. Well, the good folks over at Hasbro Games filled the void when they sent over their new version, JENGA BOOM. The "explosive" package arrived here at Rock Father HQ, immediately piquing the interest of Addie, who was curious why the box had a string on it. That "string," is actually a fuse, as the box is made to resemble four massive sticks of dynamite, bound together as a bomb. Most awesome disclaimer ever? "ACTUAL PRODUCT DOES NOT EXPLODE."

Preview: MARVEL Minimates STRANGE TALES Box Set...

Written by

Can Diamond Select do anything wrong? I'd have to say "no," as everything I'm seeing come out of there lately is pretty fantastic. With a habit of coming up with new toys perfect for 30-something parents like me to introduce some old-school things to our kids (KNIGHT RIDER), Diamond Select often hits my sweet spot. A MARVEL Minimates STRANGE TALES Box Set? Perfect, and it's coming soon. Featuring Dr. Strange, First Appearance Blade, Werewolf by Night and Morbius the Living Vampire, photos can be found below...

As BRAVE gave Pixar their seventh Oscar for "Best Animated Feature" at last night's Academy Awards, audiences that have yet to experience the tale of Merida are seeking it out, while those who have are seeking new ways to do so. I have to admit that while well-versed in the "Disney Princess" realm, we have not yet seen BRAVE, though we did get a taste at the recent ROCKIN' EVER AFTER edition of Disney on Ice. That said, iOS users that are looking to expand on the world of BRAVE with their own children have two recent Apps to check out...

Disney INFINITY looks dangerously cool. I say dangerously, because there's some time and money to be invested here, and I have a feeling that it could become a fixture here at Rock Father HQ this summer. Yesterday, the folks at Disney Interactive hit me with all the details on the fourth play set for Disney INFINITY, one based on the world of CARS. Need I say that Addie will probably love this?

I didn't get a chance to post about it earlier this month, but the news we've been expecting has finally arrived: Weekly ROCK BAND DLC is ending as of April 2. I've gotta say, this saddens me, even though it's long overdue. ROCK BAND has enjoyed an incredible run, with over five years past the release of the first ROCK BAND game, which happened to have been the reason why I got an XBOX 360 in the first place. I have some great ROCK BAND memories that I'll share at another time, but until the last track arrives in April, I'll keep updating on what's set to hit on DLC. This Tuesday, tracks from THE FLYS, QUEENSRYCHE, and STAIND will be available.

The Hot Wheels situation here at Rock Father HQ just got serious. What started as some simple fun with cars between my octane-obsessed daughter and I has gone well beyond rekindled childhood fun for me, and is now hitting my retro-radar at full speed. While the little one and I have a ton of fun with Hot Wheels, nothing really triggered my own "have to have it!" reaction until now. Thanks to Mattel, the Hot Wheels Retro Entertainment Assortment has hit the streets.

Back in November, I included the TRANQUIL TURTLE from Cloud b in my Holiday Gift Guide here on The Rock Father. As noted back then, it's an absolutely fantastic toy, and that's now been recognized on a larger scale as Tranquil Turtle has received a Toy of the Year (T.O.T.Y.) award in the Infant/Toddler category at the Toy Industry Association's Annual T.O.T.Y Awards. How much do we love the Tranquil Turtle? So much that we now have two of them here at Rock Father HQ...

At the American International Toy Fair in New York last week, folks were going batty for all the new merchandise to feature the Caped Crusader in all of his many forms. Among the hottest items were at the NECA booth, where they unveiled their 1/4 scale BATMAN figures based on Michael Keaton as Batman (1989) and Adam West as Batman (1966). Today comes word that both figures are available for pre-order right now over at Entertainment Earth, and I've got full details on The Rock Father below...
