My girls are way too young for this, but if my speed-demon/daredevil daughter Addie saw it, she'd probably be off and racing quicker that we could possibly move to stop her. I'm talking about the new URBAN SHREDDER by Hot Wheels and Dynacraft, a $349 vehicle touted as "part motorcycle, part skateboard, part super engine — all beast." If I were about 12 (or they made an adult version), I'd be all over this thing. Check out the commercial below...

This past weekend, the 10th Annual Chicago Toy & Game Fair took place at Navy Pier. This was the first year that I've attended, checking in early on Saturday as one of nearly 200 Bloggers and Media Personalities invited to cover the event. While bringing the kids is more than encouraged for #ChiTaG, the family and I went separate directions. With a long-planned birthday party to attend and with one faction of the family doing Thanksgiving that day, my wife took the girls as I headed to Chicago with a special guest, my Mom.

Just ahead of the Holiday Shopping kick-off with Black Friday (or Thursday), the folks over at LeapFrog have revealed their "Must Have" toys that are topping kids' wish lists this year. Though it didn't make their list (it's been out for quite awhile), my three-year-old daughter absolutely loves her LeapFrog My Own Leaptop (available from Walmart or Target), which we have programmed with messages from a few different family members. Her face really lights up when she proudly announces that she "has to check email." And now, on with the list...

It's a big day for fans of music gaming, as ROCK BAND has officially turned five years old as of today. The folks over at Harmonix have posted some memories from their staff members, all in celebration of a game that has outlasted it's competitors, and continues to bring new DLC content every week. This week, the family-friendly ROCK BAND 3 and ROCK BAND BLITZ get six singles from six decades. Fun Fact: ROCK BAND was actually the reason I initially got an XBOX 360. After playing it at a party in November of 2007, I was hooked. My wife bought me the full band kit and an XBOX 360 (my first of several) the following month for Xmas. Now that we have kids, I let my oldest pound away on my original ROCK BAND drum kit, while I use the upgraded set with cymbals.

Earlier tonight, I stumbled into one of the most entertaining comment threads that I've ever come across on Facebook. A woman from Alabama had taken the time to "like" the Toys "R" Us Facebook Page for the sole reason of posting an angry comment regarding the sale and Black Friday promotion of a "WishCraft Toy" containing "Tarot Cards and a Pendulum."   The post was placed on the page by a self-proclaimed "Godly Christian" denouncing these items as "promoting witchcraft to children."

Here at Rock Father HQ, we really dig the assortment of toys offered by Ty's Toy Box. They're the go-to source for hard-to-find items from a lot of PBS KIDS shows like Caillou, Wild Kratts, Super Why!, Sesame Street and more - and then they've got the official shops for Yo Gabba Gabba! and The Wiggles, too! Well, the folks at Ty's Toy Box just got in touch with The Rock Father with a Holiday Coupon Code offering 15% Off your order, along with the full list of their Top 10 Best Sellers for 2012. What are the kids into this year? Check it out...

I was just discussing Toys "R" Us with my wife last night. As many of you regular readers know, I mention TRU pretty frequently here on The Rock Father (like when we started our Christmas shopping in October). Not only is it our favorite store (we visit the local Toys "R" Us/Babies "R" Us combo on a weekly basis - particularly since we have a newborn in the house), but I receive their press releases and corporate news via email here at Rock Father HQ, with updates arriving several times a week. If something interesting is happening at TRU, I usually share the news...

I'm a sucker for the Holiday season, and as I'm putting the finishing touches on The Rock Father's 2012 Holiday Gift Guide (which you won't wanna miss!), I'm still coming across some new products that I really dig. One such item? THE GRINCH at Build-A-Bear Workshop. Yes, you can now build your own version of the classic grump from Dr. Seuss' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, and just like the end to the famous tale [SPOLIER ALERT], The Grinch's heart grows three sizes! While The Grinch has my heart, he's not the only Holiday friend available at Build-A-Bear Workshop this season...

I still think it's a little weird to see MARVEL items in The Disney Store, but Disney's ownership of the brand has certainly spawned some cool things, and I'm sure we'll be seeing some similarly-rockin' STAR WARS swag popping up in the Store as time goes on. As for Marvel, the latest offerings are some exclusive figures from the MARVEL SELECTS line by Diamond Select Toys. Check out the full details on the HULK UNLEASHED, Flash Thompson as VENOM, and the LIZARD figures below, along with info on a new box set...

Rock Band will officially turn five years old on November 20th, and while I anticipate some sort of celebration, they weekly DLC just keeps coming. This week, DAVE MATTHEWS BAND brings a trio of hits to the Rock Band platform, with songs arriving for Rock Band 3 and Rock Band Blitz, tomorrow. Harmonix hit The Rock Father with the details, all of which can be found below.

I'd be hard-pressed to find another store that the munchkins and I love more than Toys "R" Us. It's the last of the great toy store chains, and, as I've said before, I think it's important for kids to have a place like that to go. When their holiday commercials come out each year, I always get nostalgic, so when a press release landed in my inbox here at Rock Father HQ this Thursday with a new batch of six new ads, I was pretty excited. I didn't get to upload them until today, but here they are...

As first mentioned here on The Rock Father earlier this month, toymaker JAKKS Pacific has created a special line of Presidential 'Kids - Cabbage Patch Kids designed in the likenesses of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan. The dolls are being auctioned on eBay through November 6 to benefit Rock the Vote, a non-partisan, non-profit organization. The auction is NOW LIVE.
