Quantcast

75 Years ago, "The Panic Broadcast" took place. It was then that a 23-year-old ORSON WELLES performed THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, a radio drama broadcast as part of THE MERCURY THEATRE ON AIR. Based on H.G. Wells' 1898 novel of the same name, Welles and his crew managed to cause panic across America as unknowing listeners began to believe that aliens had really descended upon the small town of Grovers Mill, New Jersey. For Day 29 of 31 Days of Halloween here on The Rock Father, I'm featuring PBS AMERICAN EXPERIENCE: WAR OF THE WORLDS, which premieres tonight on PBS. Check out a preview below...

It's pretty appropriate that the new trailer for CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS comes just prior to Halloween. The reason? It brings with it some monstrous aliens in the new "Extinction" mode - a world that finds the planet under siege from some critters that will bring to mind everything from ALIENS, to STARSHIP TROOPERS. No Zombies here, but it's still looking quite deadly. Family-friendly this one isn't, so use caution if viewing near the kids. It's part of "Daddy Shooting Pixels" here on The Rock Father...

MONSTERS UNIVERSITY (Blu-Ray Review)

Written by

MONSTERS UNIVERSITYIt didn't even hit me until recently that MONSTERS INC. is already a twelve-year-old movie, just the fourth film in a string of hits born of the now-famed Disney•Pixar relationship. Released nearly eight years before I became a parent - or, "The Rock Father" - my little ones hadn't actually seen the film prior to the release of MONSTERS UNIVERSITY (Disney•Pixar's 14th film) earlier this summer. While we'd missed the new prequel during it's theatrical run, a review copy arrived here at Rock Father HQ courtesy of Disney... conveniently just one day after we'd seen the original broadcast on Disney XD.

Lewis Black calls her "The funniest comic in America, bar none." Ron White says she's "easily one of the best comics alive." Now KATHLEEN MADIGAN is back with her new comedy album, MADIGAN AGAIN , and New Wave Dynamics has teamed-up with The Rock Father to get two lucky readers hooked up with copies of it on CD, right here in the "For Grownups" section. Would you like a chance to win? Check out a preview, and enter below...

The Beatrix Girls - MEET THE BEATRIX EPEarlier this month, THE BEATRIX GIRLS released their debut EP, when MEET THE BEATRIX arrived on iTunes. These rockin' young ladies might not be a household name just yet, but Lark (Bass), Ainsley (Drums), Brayden (Guitar/Vocals), and Chantal (Keyboards) are poised for stardom. You see, they’re musicians, they’re role models for a new generation of empowered young girls, and they spread a message that you can accomplish your dreams through talent, tenacity and old-fashioned hard work... but THE BEATRIX GIRLS are something else as well... they're dolls
