It could be said that that Danny Elfman's iconic score for Tim Burton's THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is pretty lullaby-ish to begin with. But, for those wishing to take it over-the-top in hopes of introducing it to the smallest little pumpkin in your patch, the folks at Roma Music Group are gearing up to release TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE ROCK STAR - LULLABY VERSIONS OF THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. The twelve-track collection will be available on October 29th, and pre-orders just went live on iTunes. Stream "This is Halloween" below...

This month, Shout! Factory in association with Hasbro Studios released TRANSFORMERS PRIME: PREDACONS RISING, a 90-minute epilogue to the recently-concluded, TRANSFORMERS PRIME. BUMBLE BEE got his voice back... MEGATRON raised an undead army (seasonally-appropriate for Halloween!)... and for the rest, you'll just have to watch. Luckily for you, my friends at Shout! Factory and Hasbro have teamed up with The Rock Father to get three readers hooked-up with some sweet prizes. So which side are you on? AUTOBOT... DECEPTICON... or PREDACON?

For Day 14 of 31 Days of Halloween 2013 here on The Rock Father, we've got a song straight outta Montana. From THE WHIZPOPS!' 2012 album, THE ADVENTURES OF STRETCH McCOY comes "The Bat Song" - an educational, yet delightfully spooky little ditty about those useful winged rodents that are sometimes known to inspire billionaires to don a cape and cowl to fight crime under a cover of darkness. Feast your fangs upon some "bat facts" below...

Chicago Toy & Game Fair 2013Last year, one of the best events I had a chance to attend was the Chicago Toy & Game Fair (read my report here). For 2013, ChiTag is back for it's 11th Annual event, taking place November 23-24 at Navy Pier, right at the heart of Chicago's beautiful lakefront. It's the only public event of it's kind, allowing kids and grownups of all-ages to get a peek and play with some of the hottest upcoming toys and games, all while taking part in special events and shopping at the same time. The Rock Father and ChiTag have teamed-up to get six lucky families hooked-up with weekend passes to the show, one per week leading up to the big event. Want to join us at Navy Pier?

For Day 12 of 31 Days of Halloween 2013 here on The Rock Father, I'm doing something different... I'm shining the spotlight on something that I created long before becoming a parent... years before becoming "The Rock Father": DEATH WALKS THE STREETS. A multi-genre horror/crime hybrid, DWTS was initially conceived as a screenplay in 2004 - the ultimate mashup between monsters and the mob. I'd completed the screenplay with my friend, Ben Brezinski, and then the project took on a nearly-legendary "life of it's own," in 2005 as we entered into a production deal for a movie... which was then touted as "A Trilogy." I ended up penning the sequel, DEATH WALKS THE STREETS II: THE LONG DECEMBER, and a line of prequel comic books was announced. Problem is, despite scoring a Spike Scream Award Nomination for "Most Anticipated Film," being featured in countless media outlets, getting well into pre-production to the point of soundtrack demos, set/prop/costume design, storyboarding, location scouting, FX tests completed, and a preliminary cast in-place with merchandise already being sold, the movies never happened. Hollywood horror story? Sort of, but some comic books were made...

SOFIA THE FIRST has been a staple here at Rock Father HQ since it started airing on Disney Junior earlier this year. That said, my girls will be pretty excited to learn that the adventure is going beyond Enchanica, and onto the seas when SOFIA THE FIRST: THE FLOATING PALACE arrives next month. Premiering SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT) on the Disney Channel and THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Junior, Sofia's first primetime special features an appearance from a true Disney legend - Princess Ariel, THE LITTLE MERMAID herself. Check out a preview below...
