Racing is heading back to the president’s neighborhood, and AJ Foyt Racing is helping set the stage.
The White House Historical Association released a new episode of The White House 1600 Sessions featuring Association President Stewart McLaurin, AJ Foyt Racing Team Principal Larry Foyt, and driver Santino Ferrucci. Recorded at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the conversation explores the intersection of American racing history and the upcoming Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C.
The episode is part of a broader partnership between the Association, AJ Foyt Racing, and Homes For Our Troops tied to America’s 250th anniversary. The collaboration was created in memory of Marlyne Sexton, a founding member of the National Council on White House History and a longtime sponsor of AJ Foyt Racing.
Washington has its own racing history. In 1797, the Washington Jockey Club opened a racecourse just four blocks from the White House. More than two centuries later, motorsports will once again take center stage near some of the country’s most recognizable landmarks.
“It’s going to be a really special race,” said Foyt. “We’re really looking forward to it. Outside of the Indy 500, I think it’s the most excited I’ve been for a race in a long time.”
The partnership will extend beyond the track. Fans will have an opportunity to meet Ferrucci at The People’s House: A White House Experience, while a special merchandise collection will support both the White House Historical Association and Homes For Our Troops.
“I think that the biggest thing for racing in Washington is we’re one country, one nation,” said Ferrucci. “It’s a great way to bring people together to support something truly American for this fantastic year.”
For AJ Foyt Racing, the event adds another chapter to a legacy already deeply woven into American motorsports history, this time with the nation’s capital as the backdrop.
