Gemmy is filling front yards with a considerably less threatening class of Halloween creatures this year.
The seasonal decor company has rolled out a new assortment of small animal inflatables at Walmart, pairing pets, farm animals, aquatic creatures, and mythical beasts with costumes better suited for trick-or-treating than terrorizing the neighborhood.
Among the barnyard contingent is a 3.5-foot Skeleton Highland Cow decked out in a bone-inspired costume, while the equally tall Ghost Cow hides beneath a sheet and carries a pumpkin treat bag.
The pet department gets even stranger. A Skeleton Corgi arrives with a witch hat and dangling tongue, while a four-foot Hot Dog Dachshund commits fully to the bit with a frankfurter costume. A Golden Puppy, Tabby Cat, and crouching Black Cat round out the furry side of the lineup.
For yards in need of something a little less conventional, Gemmy also offers a 3.5-foot Dragon curled around a jack-o’-lantern and a tiny vampire Dinosaur in a black cape.
Then things head underwater.
A Vampire Duck sports slicked-back hair, fangs, and formal attire, while an Axolotl wears a witch hat and pumpkin-patterned bow. There’s also a costumed Baby Hippo and a magenta Octopus with a tiny spider dangling from one of its tentacles.
A witchy Fox and pumpkin-hugging Sloth finish out the forest lineup.
Most of the inflatables stand roughly 3 to 4 feet tall, making them small enough to fit into larger Halloween displays without taking over the entire lawn.
For families whose Halloween decorating philosophy lands closer to “adorably unhinged” than “nightmare fuel,” Gemmy appears to have the neighborhood covered.
The collection is available now in Walmart stores and online.
