Mountain Dew’s 5-Cent TikTok Drop Is Built for the Dew Faithful

Let it be known that Diet Mountain Dew is essentially the officially unofficial pop of choice here at Rock Father HQ. While Diet is the preferred brand, we can still kick it with the OG on occasion, and now Mountain Dew is throwing it back to 1948 with a limited-edition drop priced like another era.

The citrus pop (soda, if you must) brand is releasing 1,948 commemorative can bundles exclusively through TikTok Shop. Each bundle costs 5 cents and includes a commemorative Mountain Dew can plus a 10-pack of Mountain Dew mini cans.

The number ties directly to the year Mountain Dew was born, when two brothers in Tennessee created the bold citrus drink that eventually became one of the most recognizable names in refreshment.

Bundles are dropping across three days — Today, June 29 (sold out!), June 30, and July 1 — with daily quantities revealed through Mountain Dew Instagram Stories at noon ET. Each customer can purchase one bundle while supplies last.

The commemorative can continues the brand’s American Original — Tasting Great Since ’48 campaign, which launched this spring across social and digital platforms. The campaign uses four creative spots — “Big Spender,” “Hoedown,” “Cold Ones,” and “In the Mix” — to spotlight Mountain Dew’s origin story and Appalachian roots.

“Since 1948, Mountain Dew has been defined by bold spirit, unrelentless grit and ambitious energy — qualities that continue to drive the brand forward today,” says Michael Smith, Vice President of Marketing for Mountain Dew, PepsiCo Beverages U.S.

Nearly eight decades after its Tennessee debut, Mountain Dew found a way to make brand history feel like a treasure hunt. Five cents, TikTok Shop, and only 1,948 bundles? Dew fans may want to move fast.

Meanwhile, I’m just sipping this can of Diet American Dew in the office…
