This year's Comic-Con International is about to go down in San Diego next week (July 23-27), and as usual - I will not be there. In keeping with my "maybe next year" responses, I've been standing firm in that I won't do another Comic-Con until I have something that I'm personally responsible for to promote. That said, I'm covering the show virtually again, and the folks at Prop Store just hit me with details on what they'll be showing off - a collection of movie memorabilia that will be auctioned off in the UK in October of 2014. They've got some great stuff, but it's all really unimportant next to what I found on their site. They're holding back on us...

“We’ve assembled a fantastic collection of material for our October 2014 live auction. The auction is being held in London at Vue Cinemas’ flagship location. One of the many benefits of working with Vue, who are one of the UK’s largest movie theatre chains, is that we can host a two-week public preview of many of the auction lots. But if you can’t wait until October or you aren’t based in London, we’re inviting interested bidders and fans to see some of the highlights of the auction at Comic Con. Our Comic Con display also present a preview of items to be sold in our online Pacific Rim auction, which launches at the end of August. We’re excited to be working with Legendary on the Pacific Rim sale and have some great material to showcase on that front as well.”Brandon Alinger, COO, Prop Store

Prop experts Stephen Lane, Brandon Alinger and Tim Lawes will be on-hand at SDCC (Booth #3845) to show of an original prop Marty McFly hoverboard from BACK TO THE FUTURE: PART II, with an estimated auction price of £15,000 ($25,700), an original Batmobile model miniature used in BATMAN FOREVER estimated at £20,000 ($34,200), an original prop Golden Ticket from WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY estimated at £15,000 ($25,700), Michael Keaton’s battle-damaged bat suit from BATMAN (1989) estimated at £10,000 ($16,100) and C-3PO’s hands from STAR WARS estimated at £8,000 ($13,700). They're also showing off some  goods from PACIFIC RIM.

So what trumps all of that? It turns out the Prop Store happens to have in it's possession, a focal point from the greatest Holiday Film ever made. They've got an original TURBO MAN Suit worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1996 classic, JINGLE ALL THE WAY - my favorite Christmas movie of all-time, and the film whose sequel I was on the set of in Vancouver earlier this year. In fact, my friend Robert Kurtzman worked on the TURBO MAN suit back when he was still with KNB. If I had $5K to blow right now, this second? That TURBO MAN Suit would be on it's way to Rock Father HQ for permanent display in my office. It's even got the "Hero" Boomerang from the climax of the film. Five grand seems like a bargain for such a piece of movie history, so hopefully someone worthy will snatch it up. In the meantime, look for more on JINGLE ALL THE WAY 2 here on THE ROCK FATHER later this year!
