FEAR FACTORY has fired up the machines again.
The industrial metal band released its new single, “Roboticist,” via Nuclear Blast Records, marking the recording debut of its current lineup featuring founding guitarist DINO CAZARES, vocalist MILO SILVESTRO, bassist TONY CAMPOS, and drummer PETE WEBBER.
“Man, Machine, and the war for what comes next. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the beginning of a new era of Fear Factory,” Cazares says.
Produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Damien Rainaud, “Roboticist” arrived alongside a cinematic music video directed by Vincente Cordero and produced by Arion Csihar.
The timing carried some extra significance for longtime FEAR FACTORY fans. The single premiered online at 2:14 a.m. ET on Aug. 29 — a nod to the Terminator universe, which has long influenced the band’s industrial, man-versus-machine aesthetic. In the films, Aug. 29, 1997, marked the date Skynet became self-aware, and humanity’s relationship with the machines took a catastrophic turn.
FEAR FACTORY also holds a special place in Rock Father™ history. James Zahn — The Rock Father™ himself — became a fan with the band’s 1992 debut, Soul of a New Machine, and years later directed and edited the album trailer for 2012’s The Industrialist. That project became a small piece of the band’s extended history and lore, making each new chapter hit a little closer to home around here.
Nearly three decades after Judgment Day was supposed to arrive, FEAR FACTORY is using the date to launch its own next chapter.
