New Orleans is about to get heavy.
THE GREAT NOLA TRENDKILL will take over the Lakefront Arena Nov. 20-21 for a two-day celebration built around PANTERA, DOWN, Housecore Horror, and the city that helped shape PHILIP H. ANSELMO.
Presented by Housecore Horror, Housecore Records, and Live Nation, the festival will feature PANTERA’s first New Orleans performance in 30 years while marking the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1996 album, The Great Southern Trendkill.

DOWN will also use the weekend for the official record release show for Volume V. BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, POWER TRIP, CROWBAR, EYEHATEGOD, PIG DESTROYER, RĀDE, and HERAKLEION round out the initial music lineup. Individual daily lineups will be revealed later.
“To be back in New Orleans with such a package of bands and events is a dream come true. Besides PANTERA and DOWN, we have great NOLA and national bands playing, Housecore Records and Housecore Horror specialties, horror industry personalities, talented artists, and so much more. Please come down to my hometown and have a blast the entire weekend!” Anselmo says.
The weekend will also bring Housecore Horror back into the fold. The festival concept, launched more than a decade ago around Anselmo’s love of horror and heavy music, will expand THE GREAT NOLA TRENDKILL beyond the arena with screenings, vendors, special appearances, and additional events at venues throughout the city.
The Housecore Horror programming is separate from the arena ticket and will require an additional admission fee, with more details expected closer to the event.
Travel VIP packages are also available, including two-day festival admission, a two-night hotel stay, exclusive merchandise, and shuttle transportation.
Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
For PANTERA, the weekend carries some serious weight. Thirty years after The Great Southern Trendkill landed like a sledgehammer, the band is celebrating with DOWN, a stack of longtime friends, and Housecore Horror along for the ride.
Back in 1996, James Zahn, The Rock Father himself, interviewed PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul for an exclusive feature for The River Cities’ Reader leading into the release of The Great Southern Trendkill. Read it here!
