You finally did it; you took the plunge and got a tattoo. Whether it's been one you've been thinking about getting for years or you got it after a bet with a friend, you now have a piece of permanent art on your skin, and that can be exciting. Plenty of people have tattoos; 45 million Americans have at least one. Of course, now that you have that new tattoo, you'll have to take care of it if you want it to last. Here are a few tips to help you take care of your first tattoo and make sure it looks great for years to come.
Help It Heal
Your tattoo will take time to heal, and it can be frustrating in the meanwhile, especially if it's your first tattoo. It's probably going to be a little bit uncomfortable, but if you notice the healing process is painful, talk to a doctor; it could be a sign that it's infected. It's probably going to be a bit itchy, like a healing scab; do your best not to mess with it as it's healing. The more you mess with it, the more likely it is you'll impact how the tattoo looks once it's fully healed.
Instead, do your best to help it heal as quickly as possible. Keep the skin moisturized and clean, especially if you're spending a lot of time moving or in areas where your tattoo might get dirty. When washing your tattoo, be gentle, and avoid scrubbing at it too much. This will give it time to heal fully and have better, long-term results.
Keep Up With Care
Once your tattoo is done healing, you might think you can be less careful with it. However, this will result in a fast-fading tattoo with duller colors and less clear lines. Take good care of your skin, especially when it comes to sun exposure. Sun damage and sunburn can fade tattoo ink more quickly, particularly for color tattoos. Even if it isn't sunny outside, your tattoo can still be exposed to harmful UV rays just by increases in elevation (4 to 5% more UV rays for every 1,000-foot increase in altitude, to be exact). Sunscreen is your friend when it comes to tattoo longevity, so don't be afraid to use SPF regularly.
Tattoos might be permanent, but if you really don't like your tattoo, that doesn't mean you're necessarily stuck with it forever. If you still don't like your tattoo once it's had time to fully heal and settle, there are a few options for fixing it. Laser tattoo removal exists, but can be an expensive option. Instead, consider getting a cover-up tattoo. Around 5% of the U.S. population has covered up a tattoo with another one. If you still like tattoos, just not the one you ended up with, this can be a great option.
Tattoos can be a great way to express yourself and showcase your personality, but they do require a certain amount of maintenance and care.
It doesn't matter if you're severely fashion-challenged or a hipster with a pristine sense of style; you still wear socks.
And though we wear socks almost every single day, many men don't have a single clue how to shop for a good pair of socks. Even though the average American spends around $1,800 on clothes every year, we tend to underspend when it comes to socks. Too often, when our socks seem to be few and far between in the laundry cycle, we head to the store and just grab the cheapest pack of whichever socks look the least weird.
While tried-and-true sock styles have their place, there is a whole world of sock styles out there waiting for discovery. Believe it or not, the right pair of socks can make your days more comfortable, and even protect the health of your feet.
Get out of your boring and impractical sock rut. Here are four styles of sock you never knew you needed:
1. Athletic and Sports Socks
If your feet will be getting sweaty, do yourself and your family a favor and invest in socks specifically designed for athletic performance. Today, less than 5% of American adults participate in 30 minutes of exercise every day. Don't let a lack of athletic clothing become an excuse to stay on the couch. Moisture-wicking socks are a great addition to any wardrobe, and hiking socks often feature cushioned soles that help prevent blisters and achy feet. For outdoor fitness, some boot sock styles are made taller to help protect your ankles from rubbing against hiking boots and to limit lower-leg scratches and bug bites.
2. Fun Socks
While you may be hesitant to wear zany socks with your formal wear, fun prints are actually quite fashionable these days. Even mainstream retailers like Target now carry a variety of options for men. You can get socks with dinosaurs, bacon and eggs, and a variety of non-extinct animals. Every man should own at least one pair of socks that add a little character to your outfit.
3. Casual Socks
Casual, daily-wear socks give the wearer a chance to express personality and flair, since these socks come in an array of colors and styles. Casual socks tend to prioritize appearance over function, meaning that awesome yellow-striped pair might make a great statement, but not fare so well on a long hike.
4. Dress Socks
Finally, men's dress socks are often made with luxury materials intended to pair with suit-and-tie apparel. Traditionally, dress socks come in black fabrics that match your trousers. These socks tend to be taller so that the edge will never be glimpsed under dress slacks. However, recent business-casual style changes have seen men getting more creative with their sock choices. Today, it's common to see a man in khakis wearing fun argyle or spotted socks. If your workplace allows, feel free to have a little fun with your dress socks!
When you're cultivating your ideal gentleman's wardrobe, don't forget to gather a collection of practical socks. With these four socks in your arsenal, you'll be ready to take on any day in comfort and style!

PUMA and Hasbro are coming together for a new Transformers-themed collection, which means that I will likely be rockin' some Optimus Prime-inspired footwear this winter. The PUMA x TRANSFORMERS capsule range celebrates two iconic Autobots - Bumblebee and Optimus Prime - infusing their essence into PUMA’s latest RS-X silhouette. Styles for men and kids will arrive this December as a Foot Locker exclusive, just in-time for the release of Bumblebee in theaters.
If you're an avid viewer of ABC's Shark Tank, you may recall an episode from a few years back when Shark Robert Herjavec, Founder & CEO of Herjavec Group made a deal with a little company called Happy Feet. The maker of plush character slippers had been around since the late 90s, but it was that 2014 deal that really took things in a new direction. Now, a new collaboration between Happy Feet and Disney has been revealed, with Happy Feet set to produce a robust line of plush slippers and proprietary footwear for Disney and Disney•Pixar brands, which includes Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Nightmare Before Christmas, Winnie the Pooh, Disney Princess, Frozen, Toy Story 4, and many more. This new lineup of over 30 hand-crafted styles joins previous collaborations including a Marvel line. Each pair of Happy Feet is created using unique fabrics, soft plush, and detailed embroidery to bring fan-favorite characters to life. Check out a preview below...
The 50th Anniversary Celebration of Mattel's iconic Hot Wheels collection continues, and today comes news that Knockaround and Hot Wheels have teamed-up for some limited edition sunglasses. Yes, I just bought a pair. I've been a fan of Knockaround's Fort Knocks shades for awhile, particularly some of their limited edition collaborations, so this is right in my wheelhouse. The Rodger Dodger Fort Knocks feature a nitrous blue frame with a hot-rod red interior on the front, and classic speedster flames running down both arms. Reminiscent of the blown engine popping out of the hood, they sport polarized silver chrome lenses that provide full UV400 sun protection. One of the coolest features? They come packaged on a card that's made to look like a Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary diecast package!
This Back to School feature is brought to you in collaboration with pediped footwear.
It seems like the kids just got out of school (and really, they did), and while we've had a busy summer that's been filled with adventure, we're now staring down back-to-school season. The summer's seem shorter all the time, and soon the school bell will ring and the kids will be rockin' the halls once more. This also means that it's time for back-to-school (BTS) shopping, an experience that can be both fun and daunting for kids and parents alike. BTS shopping is an investment in our kids, and in just a few short years of having little ones in elementary school, we've learned the importance and occasional disappointment in what we buy. Shoes are a big part of that investment, especially for families with more than one child. You want your kids to have shoes that are comfortable, healthy, stylish and you want them to last. pediped has a mission of comfort, quality and style - and in that order, and for 2018 they're a #RockFatherBTS pick!
If you're an avid viewer of The Profit as I am (it's one of my favorite shows), then Inkkas Worldwear and Flex Watches should be familiar names. Both companies made appearances on the show within the past two years, each getting a much-needed lift and some directional assistance from Marcus Lemonis. Now that they're both in-house brands of the Marcus Lemonis Fashion Group, there's a new collaboration that may help to further put them on the map, and it's one from a galaxy far, far away. Flex Watches and Inkkas Worldwear have collaborated with Star Wars to launch a limited-edition capsule collection of watches and shoes.
A New "Solo" Poster, plus a Chance to Sport the Intergalactic Fashion of Han Solo and Lando Calrissian...Written by James Zahn
The promotional activities for Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story is now in full-effect, and that means quite a few new posters. I've enjoyed the western vibe of the U.S. posters, but now there's one out of the UK that is hands-down my absolute favorite. It's vibrant and I did it - plus Lando's bright yellow outfit really pops (see it below). Speaking of Calrissian, if you're like me, you've probably always enjoyed the idea of wearing a short cape like he does. Now, thanks to ThinkGeek (an affiliate of this site), you can have your own Lando Cape, and this slice of intergalactic fashion will only set you back around $70. Now, perhaps you want something a little less flashy - something more subdued that flips the switch between smuggler and scoundrel. In that case, you can pick up a Han Solo jacket very similar to the one worn by Alden Ehrenreich in the new film. Check 'em out...
One of our favorite product lines is getting bigger. Her Universe has long-been a go-to destination for cool Star Wars gear for women and girls, getting started at a time when availability of fan-centric clothing wasn't as widespread as it is now. The Rock Daughters™ wear it... my wife wears it... and now an even broader set of fans who enjoy Disney, Marvel and Star Wars will be able to get in on the action with the launch of OUR UNIVERSE. Disney made the announcement today that the collaboration with Her Universe and founder Ashley Eckstein will "expand beyond the existing licensed lines of Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars apparel, accessories, and home goods and opens up new categories and opportunities including a new, heroic character-inspired athleisure line for kids and tweens.
If you happen to have run into me at an event over the past few years... or perhaps even run across a photo from such an event, you may have noticed that more often than not, I'm wearing "my own brand." Custom apparel is certainly not a new thing, nor is the idea of showing support for your favorite brands and personalities than rockin' their logo on a tee. It's taken a little bit, but after being gently nudged a few times, I'm happy to reveal that The Rock Father™ T-Shirt Collection is now available, exclusively through TeePublic! The initial launch collection features familiar designs - the logos I'm often seen wearing, each available in both men's and women's styles, with numerous color combinations available.
