When the members of a band come from such groovalistic heavy rockers as CLUTCH, FU MANCHU, CKY, and FIREBALL MINISTRY, it’s a safe bet that what they’ll be creating something of quality – provided you’re already a fan of the source artists. When the band in question is THE COMPANY BAND, you can bet that customer service is a high priority in the interest of providing listeners with a top product at a fair price. On their latest EP, PROS & CONS (out now on Weathermaker Music), THE COMPANY BAND proves that to be true.
‘Timeless heavy rock’ comes to mind as a way to describe the five-song assemblage presented by THE COMPANY BAND for model year 2012, a set that would’ve sounded just as good in 1984, a year when “Cellular Devices” were used solely for voice communication as opposed to their current multi-tasking ability as portable music players.
“Your opinion means so much to us,” declares CLUTCH frontman Neil Fallon on the lead track, “House of Capricorn,” so I can only presume that they’ll be happy to know that I feel this to be the standout of the EP. Oddly, the EP becomes slightly less rockin’ by it’s end, but that’s by no means a slight to the fine slab of musical meat.
PROS & CONS is available on iTunes.
