The Hub released a new preview for their upcoming CARE BEARS: WELCOME TO CARE-A-LOT this week, and it serves to solidify something that I’ve already noted on The Rock Father: Our family is really looking forward to the new show. Who’s not excited? It seems that some followers of MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC are not down with the ‘Bears.

I’ve watched the Ponies with my daughter, and I just can’t see the appeal of Equestria for a growing adult male audience. These self-labeled “Bronies” also seem pretty angry online, and a lot of that frustration seems to be aimed firmly in the direction of Care-a-Lot these days. Every ‘Bears post on The Hub’s Facebook page is peppered with anti-Bear remarks from the Brony crowd, and as of right now – this preview has more “dislikes” than “likes” on YouTube. Suspicous. Sure, MY LITTLE PONY is a solid cartoon, but I just can’t get into it.
CARE BEARS? I might be able to, if only because of my association with them in the 1980s.
As I’ve said before, Grumpy Bear is probably me in plush form.
CARE BEARS: WELCOME TO CARE-A-LOT premieres Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 8am ET. Visit http://www.hubworld.com for more details.
