Now this is pretty interesting… and a fantastic move by Disney. The mouse-owned ABC will air STAR WARS REBELS: SPARK OF REBELLION in a special presentation on October 26 at 7pm e/p, but with an additional scene featuring the undisputed king of STAR WARS villains, DARTH VADER.
“We wanted to do something special for the ABC broadcast. We’ve added a scene which gives audiences insight into the Inquisitor and includes a cameo by Darth Vader voiced by the distinguished actor James Earl Jones.”
– Executive Producer Dave Filoni –
What makes this particularly interesting is that over 6.5 million viewers tuned-in for STAR WARS REBELS during it’s multi-platform premiere on Disney Channel & Disney XD, and that placing it directly in primetime on ABC, the latest entry into the STAR WARS saga becomes readily available and exposed to so many more people than cable (yes, people still watch regular TV). It’s also interesting since the program is already out on DVD (which I wrote about here), and unless it’s buried as an Easter Egg, there’s no Vader to be found.
Regardless, my DVR will be set… this coming from a once-kid that was Darth Vader for three Halloweens in the early 1980s.
STAR WARS REBELS begins airing in it’s regular timeslot on Monday, October 13 at 9pm e/p on Disney XD.
STAR WARS REBELS’ voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus and Jason Isaacs as the Inquisitor.
