I’m a YUUUUGE BON JOVI fangirl, and I’ll make no apologies for that.
The band from New Jersey has been the soundtrack to so many moments of my life, and the music and lyrics have reduced me to tears on multiple occasions. So here we are now with BON JOVI’s 16th studio album, Forever, and there’s only one question…
…does this one measure up?
In my eyes, This House Is Not For Sale (2016) and 2020 (2020) were flawless works So again, does this one measure up? You bet your ass it does! The opening one-two punch of “Legendary” and “We Made It Look Easy” should be proof positive.
“Living Proof” is a bonafide rocker, and a combo of “Waves” and “Seeds” would no doubt kill it if they followed one another in a live setting. Five songs in and Jon Bon Jovi’s voice sounds great, confirming that his recent vocal surgery was a success.
“The People’s House” harkens back to the old days of the band while “Walls of Jericho” mines that familiar territory that gets you singing loud and proud. “I Wrote You a Song” reminds us what a balladeer Jon is, and why we should all bow down.
With “Living In Paradise” the band goes from safe to semi and it’s yet another for The Greatness Files. And “My First Guitar?” It’s a fantastic song, and not just because it references KISS — though that didn’t hurt! — but it’s so well done that I couldn’t help but love it. The record closes with the haunting, yet gorgeous “Hollow Man.”
I can’t say anything more on this one aside from that it just hits right in the chest.
The bottom line is this: BON JOVI is back with a fantastic record, and BON JOVI is Forever. Case. Closed.
