Well, here’s something you don’t see every day. We have a band here named THE DEAD CAN WAIT. Now, this is normally something I’d press DELETE* on faster than you could say, “Jack Rabbit Slim’s Dance Contest,” but my dear friend is working on the release, so I figured I’d take a shot. [*Ed. Note: Damian takes issue with four-word band names.]

And…

I’m glad I did because this band is an ass-kicker with hooks and some pretty cool guitar work. So, I will overlook them using four words in their band name. Also, I love singer Ashley Stone’s voice. There’s a tone there that you just can’t teach.

The album is called In Lumine and is out now. Besides Stone’s voice, Mick Hare and Steve McLoughlin’s guitar playing is solid and highly enjoyable. This is evidenced in my favorite cut, “Second Time Around.”

“Misled” is another killer track anchored by drummer Chris York alongside some razor-sharp guitars from the duo mentioned above, while “Into the Fire” is a song made for doing shots on a Friday night at the bar. The album-closing, band-naming “The Dead Can Wait” took me back to 1987 but in the best of ways!

Look, THE DEAD CAN WAIT is a great band, and they made me rethink my name rule, so there’s that. In Lumine is available now, so I suggest you get crackin’, and you can thank me later! Big thanks to Natalie from Asteria Entertainment for a killer find!

STANDOUT TRACKS: “The Dead Can Wait,” “Misled,” “Second Time Around,” and “Paranoia”
