If children could have their own form of currency, it could be argued that Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers would do the trick. In fact, I may have used said crackers as a form of toddler bribery a time or two in the past. What parent hasn’t? Those giant Sam’s Club boxes don’t last very long here at Rock Father HQ, as the kids LOVE Goldfish. You know what else they’ll love? Seeing a giant Goldfish (and friends) come marching down 34th Street in NYC this Thanksgiving.
Spectators of the 86th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will get to see a new float this year called “Goldfish on Parade,” a fitting tribute to the imagination of children. Check out the details and concept art below…
Goldfish on Parade
The inspiring Goldfish characters have a grand idea for this Thanksgiving holiday. Finn and his friends Gilbert, Brooke and Xtreme have decided to have a parade. Inspired by Macy’s great American tradition, they’ve gathered up some books and toys to create a whimsical Thanksgiving Day procession. Finn leads the way in a dapper top hat and shades as the parade’s grand marshal. Xtreme uses pencils to “stilt walk” down the route while Brooke drives the wind-up car which tows Gilbert on his float made of buttons, caps and a whistle. The march comes to life as it seemingly jumps out of a New York City pop-up book. The Goldfish characters’ vision of the Macy’s Parade wouldn’t be complete without a balloon, and so Finn & Friends have transformed a classic toy balloon with the help of some straws and chess pieces that double as balloon handlers.
The 86th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs nationwide on NBC-TV, on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 from 9 a.m. – Noon in all time zones.
