You might not know the name Brent Almond, but in the realm of “Dad Bloggers” many know him as Designer Daddy. For the past few years, Brent and his husband (known as “Papa”) have been raising a beautiful, adopted son named JJ. On his blog, Brent covers life as a two-dad family, cool kids stuff, superheroes, and more. A few months back, Brent shared a live video of a performance from last October in which he did a song at the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington’s annual retreat. That song, “My Two Daddies (Can Beat Up Your One)” was well-recieved, and now it’s spawned a studio version.
Released to iTunes and Amazon this week, “My Two Daddies (Can Beat Up Your One)” is not your typical Kindie jam – a humorous take on a hypothetical situation (a kid getting picked on because he has two Dads) loaded with country twang. Proceeds from the single will benefit the Family Equality Council in their efforts to “change attitudes and policies to ensure all families are respected, loved, and celebrated – especially families with parents who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.”
