Toymaker JAKKS Pacific has created a special line of Presidential ‘KidsCabbage Patch Kids (one of my daughter’s favorite toys) designed in the likenesses of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan. The dolls will be auctioned off on eBay from October 30-November 6 to benefit Rock the Vote, a non-partisan, non-profit organization.

This is not the first time that Presidential Kids have been released, with previous versions created for the 2004 and 2008 elections.

“From the current generation of young voters to those who grew up with Cabbage Patch Kids—it’s an iconic and beloved brand that’s a big part of pop culture. We are excited to work with Rock the Vote and do what we can to empower all generations and encourage them to be involved in our country’s electoral process.” Jennifer Caveza, Senior Vice President of Marketing, JAKKS Pacific.

While my little ones are too young to grasp the world of politics, my oldest recently inquired as to who Joe Biden was after seeing him on television. She’ll also tell you that “Daddy lived in the White House when he was a little boy,” something she’s been saying ever since we told her that I visited the Presidential residence when I was in high school.

As for the Cabbage Patch Kids? I grew up with them (still have one of my 1980s originals!) and have become well-versed in re-clothing naked Cabbage Patch Kids on a daily basis.

Do you talk to your kids about politics? I just may run for office one day…
